He's not fat at all.
People have used the "character" word or "lazy" word which don't fit his behavior on the pitch at all.

I think Lyon has been a mess and some people had other interests in mind and hyped other players to start because of personnal interest. Lyon tried to push him out last summer for small numbers to get some money back but he refused to leave and even extended a year to make sure his childhood team gets some money out of it but after he had proven what he could do.
He was totally right and he exploded to MVP contender and Lyon will get at least 10m more out of it but he had an agreement for a 35M max fee. Smart move by him and the club (somewhat).

His only drawback is his lack of finishing skills. He's always been a passer first. Arguably one of the best passers in the world.
He does an adequate job on pressing and defensive coverage. He's no star in that department but he's not one to walk either.

Lyon is desparate for money but has an agreement for 35M with the player. He'll get to choose his next team. I hope he stays in L1 and signs with PSG.

Even if you are ignorant of Cherki, this season, there's a real argument they're equal. Cherki having some EL records over the X number of year in goal involvements and assists (can't remember if it's both or one of them) is another proof.
Wirtz was way more impressive than Cherki until this season, no doubt. Cherki this year? Few players IN EUROPE had a better year.

Homer is not a matter of being ignorant, I wrote this on November 4th:

Cherki is a one-dimensional player, tell us about the boy's non-possession phase, because I personally saw him grazing on the pitch several times. In my opinion he is a good player, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to play in Arabia in 5 years. Technically he is super gifted, a beautiful shot, but there are some flags that are too scary. Let's see what he does, he could be a bargain at the right price, he's clearly not one to build around.


Still valid to this day, Let's see when and if he will come out of the L1 for a more structured championship and how he will behave.

How is there homerism since he's among the MVP finalists in L1, EL top assist man (record), etc...?

Or your "analysis" of him is simply dumb. Since you give "red flags" without naming them except "I saw him grazing on the pitch several times". Wow. Talk about "some red flags".
Since november, Cherki has established himself as one of the best young players in the game.

As for L1, your "bias" is well known, and L1 has really been rather strong overall in Europe this year. Again, our players have no trouble shining elsewhere when italian players usually suck outside their comfort zone.
I have zero fear of Cherki shining elsewhere. He will.

I'd love to hear your reasonning as to why season stats that all prove Cherki is equal to Wirtz this season don't matter because you felt he has some red flags you can't even define back in november.
 
Wirtz offers clearly more in terms of defensive help

Good thing these stats take into account all attacking midfielders or wingers. But if stats aren't your thing you can just watch the games, their hustle levels are completely opposite. They're not 100 mil away but Wirtz is the slightly better player overall.

I have no problem if you feel like Wirtz is "slightly" better overall. No issue here.
As for hustle, Cherki has hustle. He's also more creative than Wirtz. Lesser scorer.

In reality your are banging on more promise and less certainty if you go with Cherki. While Wirtz is more of a certainty. However, is that worth the 100M not for me not at all.
 
Wirtz has a really strong press game which Slot wants in his 10. Can't say I've watched Cherki other than highlights but I doubt it's the same from everything I've heard...

Feels like the mentality of the two players are on different levels.

FWIW - "Vegas" odds are 2-1 Bayern and 4-1 Liverpool, which are a hell of a lot closer than anytime over the past week.
