Red Sox/MLB 2025 Spring Training

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In non Red Sox news, a family friend of ours son, Alan Roden. Made the Blue Jays major league roster.

A few years ago he was not sure if he was going to keep going and wanted to be a professor (majored in Physics) but he has gone nuts since then. We got to see him play a lot when we was with the Upper Valley Nighhawks. Such a great story. Absolutely crushed it in ST. .407 average. 1.209 OPS

I am aware of him and not surprised ~ he’s a strong high energy player, with good skills, a dirt dog

Didn’t know about the physics but he’s kinda fun - love to see him do well. I believe he’s got a chance to have a successful baseball player and someday become a professor

Good read on his rise through the system

“I had zero anticipation or intention of playing professional baseball,” he recalled in a recent interview with Sportsnet.
A year later, Roden had earned his degree in physics but he had also hit .387 with an on-base percentage of .492 against some of the best college pitching in the country. Intrigued, the Blue Jays took him as an outfielder in the third round, setting in motion a rapid ascent through the Toronto farm system that now has him on the cusp of the major leagues.

Why do I feel this season will be another dud?

Good Lord I hope I am wrong.

At the very least we’ll have some youth to enjoy watching develop and a decent starting staff.

75% of the teams in the league have at least as many question marks as the Sox.

The Jays contingent over on the Leafs board has super high hopes for him. He beat out Addison Barger, who also had a fantastic spring for one of the last roster spots. Couple guys are picking him to win ROTY.

The one plus with the Jays roster is there is a ton of flexibility position wise, so the kid will probably get ample opportunity to prove himself.

(I'm personally glad they're going away from keeping a bunch of trash cans on the bench because they can play defense in favor of more offensive upside)

Headed down to Arlington to see the Sox on Sunday. My niece’s first Sox game and my first game not at Fenway Park. Looking forward to seeing Raffy. As for the rest of the team, I know nothing about them mostly bc I’m not shelling out obscene amounts of cash to watch them on tv here

I just read the L.A. times article, scary indeed. Mb has lost 18 lbs. i hope it is just the flu that Anthony and others had or maybe the anti-inflammatories most of them take.
He’s had this issue for 2 weeks. It isn’t the flu. Hope he’s going to a Gastro and getting a full work up done.
