Not 8.25 million legit. Habs for reference currently have Suzuki, Caufield and Slaf all making less. All better players. Absolutely garbage asset management to sign Knies for 8.25.

For one, it's not that simple. For two, Slafkovsky being better than Knies at the moment is debatable. For three, not all teams have the same window. For four, Suzuki and Caufield's contracts are apples and oranges with Matthew Knies' and you 100% know that.

It doesn't make sense for the Leafs to lose Knies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd compensation given the way things are for them right now.
