Red Sox/MLB 2025 Regular Season

Funny how stats have evolved.

I was on the JD hate wagon when he was hear. Now I look back at his numbers and its pretty decent. I think we were all so hung up on average, RBIs, and wanting everyone to be like Trot.
I was a fan of both of the Drew brothers

Stephen was a big part of that 2013 team!

Another note, watching Ken Burns Baseball for the first time. Through the 1930s. I need to read more about Ty Cobb. There seem to be so many opinions that may or may not be true.

I loved that he didn't pose in the Hall of Fame photo just to spite the commissioner.
Supposedly the infamous reputation of Cobb being a violent player, a misanthrope, and a racist were all made up by a biographer in the 1960s who went rogue and exaggerated everything for more sales or something like that.

Yea it seems like Ken Burns ran with that narrative.

Guy's mom murdered his father thinking he was someone breaking into the house.

OF is a little blocked right now while they could use pitching prospects, so strange.
He's a lottery ticket, too. He's still in High-A ball, but he's only 19 years old. It seems like he gets on base: .393 in rookie ball, .343 in Low-A, and .417 this season in High-A. His OPS is up and down: .842 in rookie, .726 in Low-A and 1.128 in 3 games at High-A this season. Given the uncertainty of pitching, it's a head-scratcher.

He was definitely a violent player.

Being a product of early 20th century Georgia, being a racist would probably be the norm.

All I can say is I am glad he’s still here and continues to get the help he needs to live a full, healthy live on and off the field.

“I would think every day, ‘I can’t [expletive] do this,’ ” he said. “I couldn’t deal with telling myself how much I sucked every [expletive] day. Like I was already hearing it from fans and, like, what they say to me. It’s like, I haven’t told myself 10 times worse than that in the mirror. That was, like, a really tough time for me.

“It was a pretty low time for me. Like, I didn’t even wanna be here any more.”

Duran is then asked by an unseen filmmaker what he meant by that comment.

“I got to the point where I was sitting in my room; I had my rifle and I had a bullet and I pulled the trigger and the gun clicked but nothing happened,” he said."

Thank God he didn't do it

He's an example of resilience

That Duran story is incredible.

Reading it back, in a strange, cosmic way it almost feels like him finally finding his footing in the bigs is karma's way of rewarding him for finding the will to keep fighting and carrying on instead of if that gun decided to work like it was supposed to (thank god it didn't)

People worry about it glamorizing suicide, but famous people sharing stories like this is incredibly helpful to kids who feel hopeless. You get the influence of its a star/idol telling them I felt the same way too, you can get better and you dont need the permanent solution to a temporary problem.

After he retired Ken Griffey Jr. revealed he tried to kill himself with pills when he was a teenager but survived. What a loss that could've been.

They actually have more pitching prospect depth than position player depth in the minors these days, especially the lower in the minors you get. Soxprospects boys were talking about this in their last podcast

I think this is a robbery of a trade tbh, Milwaukee must see something they like in Priester though

That's the first thing I actually thought of reading this.

"Wait, this sounds familiar"

And by the sounds of it, Junior and Duran had a similar thing that contributed to their mental issues: lousy parenting.
