Red Sox/MLB 2025 Regular Season III

That’s what worries me.

I think I’d rather just have that be non reviewable.
Honestly, I had no idea you could review fair/foul balls for stuff put in play. I only thought it applied to HR's.

Certainly a dangerous slope to go down.

Ideally, it should be if call is overturned, batter is awarded 1B only unless ball went into the stands for a ground rule double. Too many potential factors at play to just award 2B on a "maybe".

This is EXACTLY why Mayer didn't start, and woin't start all weekend against LHP. But you know...Cora sucks.
One at bat?

Cora’s logic was honestly dumb as rocks for that. The RHP in the majors are much better than the RHP in AAA too so I guess Mayer shouldn’t face them either? He’s .271/.300/.458 against LHP in the minors this year, they should be letting him see them in the majors. Toro should hit the bench against LHP if they want Romy to get AB’s. He has a .638 OPS against LHP this year and .603 for his career (80 points higher against RHP for his career). Sure he’s a “switch hitter”, but he’s really a lefty who fakes it batting righty. Can’t hit his way out of a paper bag against LHP.

If you want the kids up here I ultimately want them playing everyday but when I have limited viewing of Mayer against lefties he did look totally overmatched in a key spot last night. It's a tough balancing act for Cora. Let the kids grow while also trying to win now. I don't think it's an easy position to be in.

Probably worth noting that left-handed hitters are hitting .118/.196/.137/.334 against Tim Hill this season.

So, Mayer isn't the only lefty he's made to look bad.

How's a young player, called up in his first season, ever going to learn to hit LHP if you don't give him the ABs? If you wanna pinch hit for them, in a situational spot, fine. But they need to be in the lineup EVERY day.

Its June. You've called up Mayer and Anthony and they need to play. A lot. Regardless of who's starting on the mound. They also need to STAY UP, for the remainder of the season. Those are 2 guys you don't ping pong up and down between AAA. You throw them in the deep end, give them a ton of exposure to big league pitching, and you coach them while they work through their issues and gain experience.

Good Big League managers and coaches CONTINUE to develop young talent at the MLB level. They're not just button pushers.

I think it's pretty obvious that the Red Sox are going to do everything they can to manipulate both these guys service time, unfortunately
