Tradition says that most players can adapt to play first. I find defense at 1b very important, so I don't entirely stand with the traditional thinking. Still, older players, like Yaz, used to move to first all the time.

As you probably know, Yaz moved to 1b in 75, I think. He did not like it because he knew he was a better outfielder-and of course he was right.

Counterargument is that Youkillis moved to first and won a gold glove.

Disagree pretty strongly. Middlebrooks is growing on me. His analysis is ok and he has a genuine sense of humor. Did not hear much of Youk, but did not care for what I heard.

OB drives me up a wall with his meaningless stats powered by Nesn super-homerism and his generally dreary behavior. At least Middlebrooks can get a laugh out of him.

Something about Middlebrook’s voice irks me, and I think Youk did a better job of analyzing the game.

Neither is nearly as good as Merloni though.
