Why does it always have to come to that point — the coach knows better than anyone what the playoffs entail and how even marginal players can become dominant as refs put away their whistles as they’ve always done this time of year.

You only need look at Washington’s lineup to see what they’ll do. Why react after the first game when the coach can be proactive and meet incoming fire? And I’m not talking fights but physicality, winning board battles, clearing the front of the net, giving pushback to opponents who take liberties.

I have never seen MSL be particularly concerned with that part of the game. Have you?
You would think...

Recipes, please. ;)
I have an old recipe book somewhere with traditional Quebec recipes, with my mother's handwriting all over it (in a box somewhere after several moves). This website looks like it offers something comparable. tourtiere du lac | Recettes du Québec Recettes du Québec. Bear in mind that there is some improvisation with the meat component. I.e. if you hunt or know someone who hunts, and you get deer or moose meat, that leads to optimal results. Also note that much of this knowledge has disappeared from French cooking, due to nearly 400 years of parallel evolution on both sides of the Atlantic, and the influence of the likes of Auguste Escoffier in the late 1800s and early 1900s on the French side.

This is what is worth preserving and championing... not @#$@ poutine.

Oh no man... healthy as in able to play, but clearly not healthy. Suzuki, Hutson and most visibly Armia are not 100%. Neither is Anderson. I am pretty sure Gally is playing through something and I would even venture that Heineman still not 100%. It's great they have 4 fulls days before playoffs to get some healing massages for the body and soul.
Or they spend 3 nights at chez pare

I hope it goes at least 5 games. I am teaching class next Tuesday and Thursday, which precludes my getting tickets in DC. But toying with Game 5 if it makes that far, after my spring term is over. Woops, looks like games are April 21 and 23. Maybe one of those is in play after all.

Laine vs Ovechkin

Which other matchups do you guys expect to be the most pivotal ones in this series?
I imagine we will try to keep that matchup to a minimum in terms of actual ice time. But their individual impact will no doubt be a storyline.

I would expect PLD's play to be a storyline whether it's good or bad. How Hutson handles the physicality of the playoffs will no doubt be talked about a lot, as will Demidov. And there will no doubt be lots of talk about doing it for Savvy.

So was there a desire/interest to flip savard last season? And now he will be gone for nothing...

There's no way they were going to trade Savard, he's one of the stickiest glue guys in the dressing room. Despite what you might think of him as a player, his teammates and organization hold him in the highest regard. Won't surprise me if he comes back in some other capacity after he retires.

More and Lapierre and very comparable to Evans and Dvorak let's be real.

The gomez vs newhook comparison is interesting though. Gomez wasn't as bad as some people say, he just was a dumb acquisiton and a horrible contract.

Overall, the 24-25 Habs are much better up front but its hard to say the D is necessarily better and of course G goes to 2010.
Gomez was pretty solid his first year and had a good playoff. He declined precipitously after that not unlike Gionta and Cammy except Gomez became utterly useless. Cammy the year he was traded was little better though

Unless he would have brought a 2nd or more it wasn't worth trading him. He was worth more as a teacher than that,
Wouldn’t preclude that Hughes knew he was retiring this season and being the type of GM who tries to accommodate player wishes when he can, Savard was likely promised personally that he would be allowed to finish his career in his home province.

I hate to be a bummer, but I see them getting stomped in game 1 and am curious to see how they respond in game 2. BUT WTF DO I KNOW??!!
I can see it getting ugly as well as us pulling off an upset.

Honestly, I don’t partake in ‘alpha/beta’ foolishness but did we actually have a mini ceremony for making the playoffs? lol. I can’t even bring myself to watch it because that seems like such loser shit lol. And again, I don’t like to talk like that but Jesus that doesn’t bode well. Like getting swept bad vibes.

If you had, you'd know it wasn't a mini ceremony for making the playoffs, but something that is done every end of the season.

Wow, tough crowd. The boys pulled of quite the feat this season, all which was highly improbable in regards to where we are in our rebuild arc and the hinderances of it's roster construction, they deserved a moment for their accomplishment. Moreso it was about the fans than it was the team, it was for them more than the players. Hab fans have been pretty patient and supportive of the team the last 3 years, atleast the ones at the bell centre. ;) This was an hommage to them.

And also a traditional last game of the season at home thing. This isn't unusual.

I’m very pleased with there season.

If this is a regular occurrence, that’s great.

I know people are gonna keep replying to my original post and ignore the subsequent posts of me walking it back lol so I might just delete the original haha

If the habs want a chance at making this a series, it starts on the PP for me. MSL needs to realize that Laine is holding it down. Take him off PP1 slide Caufield on the half wall. Put Demidov on the other half wall. Stick Suzuki as a right shot in the bumper and slaf in as a net front. Recreate the Tampa diamond. It's really not that hard
