I can't believe how much the Pacific leaders are wobbling with the chance to play a floundering team like Minnesota in the 1st round. Kings are in a position to win that division with a good winning streak.

Also wonder looking at schedules if St. Louis doesn't catch Minnesota in the next 2 weeks. Easy to see St. Louis going 5-2 maybe 6-1with Minnesota going 3-4, maybe 2-5 in that stretch.

How long can the Flames stay in the race? Can they catch the Wild by the time they meet on April 11th?

The Blues are firing on all cylinders right now. They look like a completely new team coming out of the break.

Stars were playing some brutal hockey the last 3 weeks or so, but still finding ways to win. Not sure if it's a bad thing to be playing poorly 10 games before the playoffs or a good thing that in their worst month of the season they've gone 11-2-2.

In the 9 "normal" seasons (excluding 19-20 and 20-21) since the divisions and playoffs were restructured, the Central Division has taken 14 of the 18 possible wild card spots, and it's looking quite likely that it'll be 16 of 20 after this year.

Canucks are toast? what record would they need?
Any combination of 3 (Minnesota wins or Vancouver losses) eliminates them.

Calgary on the other hand, if they can win their games next week against San Jose, and Anaheim, and the pivotal game against the Wild, could be in reach of a playoff spot. Minnesota also plays San Jose next week, and the Canucks have a spoiler opportunity next Saturday, in a back to back for the Wild following the Flames game.

I am counting on the Wild to lose to Dallas on Sunday, but maybe they somehow win that game. If they don't and the Flames win at home against Vegas tomorrow, it's a race to the finish.

Golden Knights now have to look in their rear view as the Kings and Oilers approach late in the season.

The Winnipeg-Dallas race for 1st in the West gets serious next week too.

Colorado is probably the only playoff team in the West secure in their spot.

Calgary is 5 points back with 2 games in hand and they have 1 game left against the Wild.

The Flames also have 2 games against the Sharks and 1 against the Ducks.

The Flames actually control their own destiny, not the Wild.

Well, by virtue of there being a head-to-head, the Wild control their fate too. If they at least force that game into OT (they have the RW tiebreaker by some distance), then at best Calgary is still -4 with the two games in hand which would still only get them into a tie without the tiebreaker advantage.

I’m not counting the Blues as a lock yet. They are without Parayko and Holloway and their next 3 games are Avs, Jets and Oilers. They could easily lose all 3.

The Wild hold control over that spot, by 2 points and the tie breaker. They seem to however want to make it as interesting as possible. Unlike the Blues, who for the last 11 games have become the Jerks of the west. :sarcasm:

With the games in hand and the head to head vs the wild, the flames actually control their own destiny and make the playoffsnover the wild if they win out with the win vs wild being in regulation, regardless of what wild do in their other games.
