I get your point, but I look at it from a different angle, because I'm a fan of a small market team.
I find it really interesting how Sox fans are so hung up on how much team payroll is year after year. Its really unique to Sox fans and I think they go a little overboard about it, TBH. Sure they can overpay for a guy like Bregman and jack the payroll a little more, but then if he gets injured, or struggles we're back to having the conversations you're currently having about Story and Yoshida and how they're overpaid. Its kind of a no-win situation. As for ticket prices, sure they're high. But to be honest, everything is freaking expensive in New England....I don't think that's specific to the Red Sox. Curious to see where the Pats, Celtics and Bruins rank as well.
My perspective is that at the end of the day, teams should try to assemble the best possible talent at the best value that they can (unless you're the Dodgers and are out to ruin MLB's salary structure). The definition of "value" is highly variable though. But then, that's why we have discussion boards.....
You're closing analogy is hilarious.Red Sox look so bad right now because they boasted from the start they are burning some cash without exactly using that phrase
Just STFU and try and sign your own guys and get within 5% (or over) of the tax threshold so you can atleast say
We are at the cap
We are locking up our core long term
Don’t tell everyone how big your junk is and then change in the stall
This seems encouraging:
If only he had a gyroball. No doubt he could make the NPBL.Oh, yeah, sure a splinker.
A.....splinker.

Enough of your negative Nellyism, Michael. Don’t you dare cast aspersions on his dream. Or anyone else’s, for that matter.Okay calm down there. I doubt any current member of the organization is good enough for the world's best league.
Oh, yeah, sure a splinker.

It's a combination of a splitter and a sinker, much like Mark Clear's slurve (slider-curve combo).Am I missing something or is this just a "fast splitter?"

No, you aren't missing anything. That's exactly what it is. He just grips the ball a little more forward on the seams where they widen. Its basically a sinker/2 seamer.Am I missing something or is this just a "fast splitter?"
