2025 Off-Season Hot Stove II - Alex Bregman in agreement with the Boston Red Sox

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

I really don't get all the venom directed at Cassas. Its a little over the top IMHO. He's a gifted talent who's young, and definitely lacks some maturity and media savvy. He's basically Nuke Laloosh........hardly a douchebag or a nutcase. He could benefit from a little more veteran mentorship. As could the rest of these kids coming up...

I think he's quite a bit sharper than Nuke.

When Millar is in the booth it's like sitting next to the guy who wants to talk to you through the whole game. But not much about the game itself.
To be fair I think you need to be able to do that in baseball. More than any other sport. Need to be able to fill time without it all being about the game.

Who the hell is Deven Marrero? Was he some overrated prospect that never did anything?

Back up infielder played parts of a few seasons here back in the “teens”.

Not good, we need umpires, the game will not be the same without them.
Kinda like playing black jack without a human dealer.

They will have umpires calling balls and strikes. The system is similar to pro tennis. The batter and catcher/pitcher can appeal the call. The system shows animation on the Jumbotron how the ball entered the zone.

They might have something with Connelly Early, a draft pick from a couple years ago. He was always kind of a strike throwing lefty who lived off of his offspeed and was in the low 90s with his fastball. He’s apparently touching 97 now. He’s not too far away either.

The amount of pitching depth they have in the upper minors compared to like 2 years ago is crazy

Sounds like this will slow down the play?
Let's keep the game simple. The strike zone will always be subjective to some degree.
Players need to make the adjustments.

They’ve been testing it in the minors. Challenges added 17 seconds to a game. A challenge must be made within 2 seconds of a call. Teams lose the ability to challenge when an umpire’s call is confirmed.
