Of course not, that would actually improve the teamJust confirming something that some are wanting...
Erik Karlsson is NOT being traded to Dallas. That ain't happening.
From my source

At his salary, not in the long-term, no.Of course not, that would actually improve the team
So is it...Nill isn't even gonna kick the tires on a trade for Karlsson because it just doesn't workAt his salary, not in the long-term, no.
I think if we get anyone, it'll be Jones or bust at this point.

or
Karlsson isn't waiving his NMC for Dallas even if Nill was interested

nor should they, but that doesn't mean retention can't be done. It's Nill.
Rarely does he come out in the media and talk about specific players but when asked about Karlsson the other day he basically laughed it off.
We don't have the cap space now or in the future for Karlsson. I'm ok with the fact they don't want him without major retention.
Oh I agree.nor should they, but that doesn't mean retention can't be done.
It's much easier to retain for 2yrs for a lot of teams, than it is for 5yrs
Stranges come on down.We need to find out who is Chicago's Grushnikov, the prospect they inexplicably covet![]()
use a 3rd party team, Pitt doesn't necessarily have to retain, someone does for it to work, obviously there is a cost to that,Oh I agree.
But if Pitt doesn't want to do it, what can you do?
Maybe they actually don't like the player all that much like some on here do too.use a 3rd party team, Pitt doesn't necessarily have to retain, someone does for it to work, obviously there is a cost to that,
And maybe there is no one willing to do that, which is fine, if that's actually the case.
But to just laugh it off as an impossibility is an incredibly shortsighted take from Nill.
Might be the case, but if they like anything about Suter/Dumba to offer them multiple years, their standard has to very low, and if Karlsson at 5.5m doesn't meet that standard but inexplicably Suter, Dumba and Lyubushkin at near 4m each do, something is wrong with what they're valuing. (which is obvious because they signed Dumba)Maybe they actually don't like the player all that much like some on here do too.

we just saw Chicago take about half that for nothing. In the Rantanen tradeThe cost to get someone to retain close to 10M would be astronomical by itself
that's a good point. One thing to keep in mind with Karlsson is the Sharks are already retaining $1.5 million, and the rules only allow one more team to retain anything on his contract. So it's not possible to get multiple teams to retain money to make his contract reasonable.
The Stars would have to find a retention partner if the Penguins aren't interested in retaining a big percentage. And I'm not sure there are teams out there with an appetite to take on $5 million of dead retention money for the next two seasons.
I don't remember but are there even any cases where 3rd party retention has lasted 2+ years? Jones is signed until 2030, I don't know if there are many organizations willing to broker retention for that long. The cost to get someone to retain close to 10M would be astronomical by itself
They did only get a 3rd rounder, but it's a retention only lasting this season. Karlsson has two more seasons on his contract.we just saw Chicago take about half that for nothing. In the Rantanen trade

Dumba was definitely a panic move... But that probably makes it worse lol.Might be the case, but if they like anything about Suter/Dumba to offer them multiple years, their standard has to very low, and if Karlsson at 5.5m doesn't meet that standard but inexplicably Suter, Dumba and Lyubushkin at near 4m each do, something is wrong with what they're valuing. You're right, because his actual salary this year is only 6m this year. No, they took a small fraction of that. They retained 50% of Rantanen for maybe 1/3 of this year.

Maybe Janko?I wonder who will be Nill’s protege? I’m going to guess it will be Peverley.
