2025 NHL Playoff Thread (Non-Panthers)

The sternum isn't weight-bearing. Sorry, I just don't believe these guys are playing hockey with broken leg bones, maybe a teeny, tiny hairline fracture, but not broken bones. I do, however, believe teams and players need excuses.
Obviously no one plays with a completely broken fibula, lol. But I do not think injuries are overstated at all, maybe underreported by players until exit physicals.

I tend to lean in the opposite direction. Post-playoff injuries are an excuse for the players, the fans, and the organization, not to mention marketing. Obviously there are players out there fighting through some terribly painful conditions, but it is doubtless in my mind that there are also exaggerations in post-loss injury reports. Everything surrounding pro sports should be taken with a grain of salt, this is and always will be a business at the end of the day and teams/media only release things that help their bottom line.

No one is going to call a hairline fracture in the fibula a broken leg, and a guy is not going to be playing hockey with a legitimately broken fibula, just not gonna happen. It's pure exaggeration.

And as it happens, it appears he had a broken bone in his foot, which is far more believable.

I like Hedman, great player, but the real excuse for him is that he's just old and not nearly what he used to be. Father Time undefeated, as usual.
