Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

There's a game 7 today and puck drop is 7:10 central time. If you’re going to the game you’re not watching the derby anyway, so why not play it in the afternoon or at least a 6:10 start? The NHL seems to look for ways to keep people from watching.

Huh? A 6:10 CT start would put it immediately after the big race. People will still be watching the ceremonies and wrapup
And an afternoon game would be going against all the undercard races

A primetime game is optimal anyway for viewership, so why would they then adjust to go up against the Derby?

Wonder how much trust the US will put in him at the Olympics?
They should keep him on a short leash with all the options they have. Oettinger, Demko, Swayman, Gibson, Stolarz, Woll, Wolf... USA has an embarrassment of riches between the pipes. Most of these guys could easily be Canada's starter.

Anyone bet on hockey or play DFS?
I had read recently how theres been alot of people that are calling into question the leagues charting of shots and feel some real shenanigans are going on.
I had Josh Morrissey on one of my DFS lineups last night and was sure he got a shot off with 2:35 left in the third period (Binnington made a pad save} but it was recorded as missing the net. That one debatable shot was the difference between cashing and not.

With the obsession over gambling I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's a reason for some of the wonky shot counts.

It's probably good for Hockey Canada to have strong teams and win cups. There's also the national rivalry dynamic where you simultaneously want to win and the others to lose - both are important.

I guess on the whole if it's not the Leafs I dont really care who wins. Whomever is best is fine.

Maybe a starting point for Knies?

Certainly helps set the floor on a longer term deal
