Prospect Info: 2025 NHL Entry Draft

Like I trust Madden but Martin projects more safely as a bottom 6er than a top 6er. I'm all for infusing more physicality in this team's lineup but burning a top ten pick to do it is how you end up with Dylan McIlrath over, well, a lot of much better players.
In 2021 Ottawa picks Tyler Boucher #10 overall cause he hits alot and has character. They could have just went high potential and drafted Wyatt Earp Johnson or something. Just take the BPA and figure it out later. Minnesota has alot of trade assets from drafting BPA that they wouldn't have if they went for need.

No one really knew Wyatt Johnston was BPA. In his draft year he played 7 games at the U-18 and put up 2 goals and 2 assists. Dallas likely were impressed with his tournament, scouted his pre draft year, took a risk and hit big. Can't fault any team for not taking him really.

After the tournament and more reading, my groupings for the top are:

Tier 1 - Schaefer, Misa
Tier 2 - Martone, Hagens
Tier 3 - Desnoyers, Frondell, Eklund, Mrtka, Martin
Tier 4 - O'Brien, Smith, Aitcheson, Bear, McQueen

I'm pretty happy with anyone in the top 3 tiers so I hope the Ducks don't drop 2 spots tomorrow.

Ya same. I get he is having a good tournament and is playing a very appealing style, but 7 games shouldn't take him from being around 15th to 8th.

Martin
WJC-18: 7 games, 3g + 8a = 11 pts, and a +15 rating (Canada didn't lose a single game)
OHL Playoffs: 5 games, 2g + 2a = 4 pts, and a -5 rating (lost series 1-4)

Which small sample of games to believe?

McQueen seems like a PV-type player. Big forward with a good hockey IQ according to reports. Having Carlsson and McQ down the middle would create a massive headache for opposing teams. Only question is whether he's available at #8 and whether he can pass the Ducks medical team exam.

PV is probably imagining McQ and Sennecke together for many years - hopefully on the ice rather than in the weight room

I think Martin was co-leading his team in the OHL playoffs (edi: he was tied for 2nd). I think it shows to some degree that his team was just bad.

Interesting that in the regular season Martin led his team BY FAR in +/- which is usually a good sign. He was also 2nd in points, only trailing a 20yo guy.

So I think there is a good chance that jis team was just bad. IIRC similar situation was with Mintyukov where on a better team he'd probably stand out more.

Frondell all the way imho as the top forward. He was literally a ppg in a solid pro mens league. The only question is, how they see him in the mid term 5y window. Is he the high upside boy or just the most ready one. But to be honest, he has one heck of a shot, can skate and is solid on the d. He even might be a center. Too much to like here imho. Like I said already, for my taste it is one of the 3 forwards (Frondell, Misa, Desnoyers). And exactly in this particular order.

I'm most worried about Frondell. He's the most developed and has the least amount of runway left. He also isn't the best skater and Eklund does most of the creating on that line.

I was all about Frondell but got kind of turned off on him by EP. They really don't like him for good reason.

Sweden has some wild names for goalies in the draft: Måns Goos and Love Härenstam. Don't know where they might get drafted but social media accounts will have fun. :5:

Härenstam's dad was a great soccer commentator when I was young.

Generally Day 2 are free or near free. I think they were $5 when it was in Nashville.
They’re $39.

There was a presale last week so I was able to get tickets to day 1 that are at least reasonably close towards the middle. For the general sale, looks like all that’s available are the extreme sides and the very back in the middle sections.

Someone here said the same thing, but Buffalo fans acting like they've been cursed by the lottery is probably the most delusional thing I've ever read

Openly tore down the entire franchise to get McDavid in 2015, didn't get him, and then didn't win anything with Eichel before they dealt him.

Unless they turn it around in the next couple seasons, Dahlin looks like he's headed that way also.
