Prospect Info: 2025 NHL Entry Draft

I think there is a clear top 8 so of course we end up at 9 lol. The odds are that one of those top 8 fall to us though. Honestly after the top 2 (maybe 4) it could go in any order. Would anyone be shocked to see O'Brien go 5?

Desnoyers is the guy I hope drops to us, but I really can't see him making it past Philly who desperately need a center.
Someone is going to drop to us. O'Brien a 6'2 RC and Mrtka a 6'5 RD are going to be very enticing to teams before us

Here is my top 10. McQueen is separated just because the injuury concern. I think he is with that top 7 but teams could easily just not be interested in drafting him top 10 because of the injuries.

Schaefer
Misa

Martone
Hagens
Desnoyers
Frondell
Eklund
---
McQueen
---
O'Brien
Smith
Good list. O'Brien doesn't strike me as a Ducks type of pick but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he went anywhere in the 6-8 range. At 8/9 the Ducks will get a good (probably not great) player. McQueen intrigues me if he is there when the Ducks pick. Out of your top 7, Eklund is the guy that I think falls a bit strictly due to size.

10 is possible (about a 1/4 chance). If we end up at 11.... I will start to believe in curses.

I don't know that it's drastically different for our future to move from 9 to 11. The main reason I hope to move up is the amusement I'll get from bumping some teams down a spot. It'd be hilarious for example to nudge a team like Bos or Phil just out of reach of a player that's a perfect fit.

No to Smith, McQueen, or Mrtka. Martin, O’Brien, or Eklund would be fine
If they take Mrtka I will be so hyped because then they see him as a top pairing RHD.

Smith is the only one I will be disappointed in, because it's hard to get hyped for the pick when it just means another guy has to bust/get traded.

Penguins fans are livid
You should have seen what Flyers fans were going through. They were in the 4 spot, but would have dropped to 6 if they got a point. Philly was down 1 late in the 3rd and gave up a goal, but then they challenged it to take it off the board. Buffalo eventually scored an empty netter, but Philly scored with 15 seconds left to cut it to 1. Then Michkov had a chance alone in front with 5 seconds left, but it was poked away.

I think the draft could play out like this if the order remains the same after the lottery:
#4 Frondell
#5 Desnoyers
#6 Hagens - Seattle can easily move the undersized center to the wing on a line with Beniers.
#7 O'Brien
#8 Do you pick Eklund, Mrtka or McQueen ?
#9 I think Pitt picks whichever Center is available here: McQueen/Martin/Bear

I'm all for taking a big swing on McQueen unless his medical report says otherwise. If not him then Eklund but there is a chance one of the other C make it to us.

I hope one of them drops for sure.
The more I think about past drafts I think a 6'2 Center like O'Brien won't be there at #8 but if he's there it seems like the pick and him being a great playmaker who's 6'2 I think a Zegras trade becomes more likely.

As for what Verbeek will do, I wonder if he'actually open to a 5'11/6'0 forward that can play Wing as he was there when Detroit picked Raymond. Eklund/Bear/Martin could be that. I like Bear more than Martin cause he scores goals more.

I would be shocked if Verbeek selects a player 5'11" or even 6'0" when taller players of about the same caliber are available. His M.O. is to build size.
