I would trade #9 for Bourque all day. His production has been outstanding for his age and I think he would pop with more ice time.
Put another way: we would be lucky to get his development path with whomever we take at that pick.
In any draft getting that type of development path would be a great result from #9.You may be right, but on paper that looks like a terrible trade—a 23-year-old with 25 points in 73 NHL games? Sounds like this draft is megadoodoo.
Not a chance. And the better route would be an offersheet for 4.5 mil rather then the 9th overall.I would trade #9 for Bourque all day. His production has been outstanding for his age and I think he would pop with more ice time.

I think I would do it for Vilardi or Rossi, depending on their contract demands.I am NOT trading 9th overall for Mavrik Bourque, Marco Rossi, or Gabe Vilardi
I agree with what many others have said about this draft...you can get a good player in the top 13-15 picks.Central Scout published their Final draft rankings: here.
O'Brien is the huge riser in the top-15. LD Smith has dropped out of top-10 and below Hensler. Mrtka moved into the top-5. On the Int'l stage, Frondell nabbed the top spot.
There will be good talent in the top-10 when you throw in Frondell and Eklund into the mix.

A small offense first Center doesn't seem like a need on this team whatsoeverRossi

Hmm, maybe? Recent 9th overall picks include Guenther, Rossi, Zegras, Sergachev, and Meier, all of whom outproduced that quite significantly. They're not all home runs, of course, but I'd take that chance.
I’m 10000% rooting for us to lose the last 2 games and rooting hard for Seattle to win their seaosn finalle( v a kings team that will rest eyeryone) Crosby wanting to win his teams final game against a capitals rested team, Sabres and flyers to pass us too.Pittsburgh has one game left that they're not playing til Thursday. We have the tiebreaker on them. If we lose out and they get one point or more, they'd pass us.
Buffalo can pass us through numerous scenarios from both teams' remaining 2 games.
Not really rooting for it. The difference between 7th and 9th isn't significant. Still would rather the team try to play for pride to close out but my pessimism says it's unlikely.
A primer for the next two games if the Ducks get:
0 points the best they can finish is 5th
1 point the best they can finish is 6th (Seattle eliminated)
2 points the best they can finish is 7th (Seattle and Philly eliminated)
3 points the best they can finish is 8th (Seattle, Philly, and Pittsburgh eliminated)
4 points the best they can finish is 9th (Seattle, Philly, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo eliminated)
In a millisecond.Would you trade the Ducks first for Elias Petterson?
It would be a huge risk from a salary standpoint, but it could be a huge reward. If the guy is a 90 point player, it's a steal. If he is a 60 point player it's a really rough trade.
Ducks must lose in regulation or it doesn't matter what Buffalo or Pittsburgh does.Buffalo and Pittsburgh can still pass us if they win their final games. Our lottery position will be either 7, 8, or 9.
Won't be that hard. We choked away a 2 goal lead to an AHL team en route to a loss. Winnipeg should crumple this team.Ducks must lose in regulation or it doesn't matter what Buffalo or Pittsburgh does.
Maybe...the Jets will be playing their Manitoba team tomorrow night.Won't be that hard. We choked away a 2 goal lead to an AHL team en route to a loss. Winnipeg should crumple this team.
Didn't stop us from losing against the Eagles.Maybe...the Jets will be playing their Manitoba team tomorrow night.
True...but why set yourself up for dissappointment?Didn't stop us from losing against the Eagles.
Meh. I don't really care one way or the other. Game 81 I've reached my full burnout point with this Cronin coached team. The loss to Colorado's AHL team was rough and infuriating. The way we lost this one has me in a state of I just don't care anymore. Playing the Terry line to defend a one goal lead is just the tip of a mountain of evidence that Cronin is bad at his job and a moron. Win for pride, fine. Lose for a few percentage points in the lottery odds that we won't win, fine. Don't really care anymore. I think I'm ready for summer. Cronin will be back and I need the summer to find the enthusiasm again.True...but why set yourself up for dissappointment?
