Frondell remains the perfect fit for this team. A guy that plays the heaviest game out of the top prospects. Perfect compliment to the high end skill they took last year. Probably won't be there when we pick, but a guy I'd trade up for.

We should be able to get two guys with profiles we need. Might not get Desnoyers or Frondell, but maybe Eklund/Bear and Mrtka/Hensler

People here often forget, we got 3 core players from the rank 10-16 (Caufield, Suzuki and Guhle). It would be ideal to draft a elite player in the top 4. But, we can still get a core player in this draft from 9-16 position.

Lakovic was part of the group of Moose Jaw warriors that was suspended 5 games each for an off ice incident that was deemed non criminal in nature

Did it ever come out what it was actually for? Underage drinking was the speculation I think

Small though ain't Eklund? Habs already too small. Size usually matters in playoffs. Refs keep whistle in their pockets game gets more physical. Harder for small players to succeed

He will be around 6 feet tall, he's very inside driven, fiesty, physical. Hes not big but he's also not small and plays a playoff effective style.

They should trade up this year. Hughes even mentioned it in his presser last draft that he's got ammo to trade up again.

We have many prospects coming. They are in a position to overpay to get the guy they love, instead of 2 guys they like. Use this year as the final year to get another top 5-7 talent, whoever that may be.

First one after Schaefer, Hagens, Misa and Martone? Love him but can't see him leapfrogging any of those guys. After that he'd be in a tier with Frondell, Ryabkin, McQueen, etc.
Top 5 means he is the player picked after the top 4. Anaheim is at 6 right now and with Madden’s history with drafting Q players Desnoyers doesn’t make it past them. So if you want him as of today you need to trade for a top 5 pick (I.e the 5th pick).

At the same time, getting a top 5 pick today doesn't mean squat, there's over half the season left to play and both NHL teams standings and draft rankings will change a lot til then. Who knows, Desnoyers may even be a top 5 for real by the end of the season.

Buium, Luchanko and Helenius all went 12-14 last year. Any of them would be terrific adds to our system.

I know Arpon's connected but he had many believing the Habs were leaning towards taking Buium at #5 last year in the days leading up to the draft in June. I sometimes wonder if the Habs use him to sandbag other teams.

I thought the rumor at the time was IF Demidov wasn’t available at 5 they were gonna draft Buium at 5 and then had a trade lined up with the Hage pick++ for a young forward.

Arpon was preparing his readers and listeners not to be surprised if Buium would be their man. Hughes did his best to hide their interest in Demidov.

If they do package the two first to move up, it better be for a top 4 pick, not a top 5. Desnoyers is not even close to Misa or Hagens. Otherwise, just stay at lets say 12 and 8, and hope for two of Eklund, McQueen, Desnoyers, Frondell and Smith to be available

We need a top 6C, not a middle 6C.

Is it me or this draft kinda socks like the Slafkovsky one. I don't see any great talent out there. Even hagens isn't your ideal #1 pick like a celebrini or hughes pick.

I wouldn't give up last years #5 pick for this year's 1oa pick.

Nobody trades a top 4 pick for anything that isn't a gargantuan overpay and I don't believe someone like Martone would end up being so much better than all those players who we could draft at let's say #7, #15 and #39.
