Martone with a brutal weekend from all accounts; can't speak to Friday, but today he popped a ton of yellow flags.

I mean, it's just one weekend. It happens. He still played physically, and got into it with guys. Looks like he might have a temper & it took him off his game, especially against the Bulldogs on Friday

Jake O'Brien was outstanding in that game, BTW. I need to watch more of Brantford. Kid was a beast.

If we do end up working our way out of bottom 5 when Laine comes back, O'Brien & Desnoyers look like solid picks.

It is unfair that they get that for NCAA & Euro players, but not CHL players. There's no reason teams shouldn't be allowed to do what Montreal has done with Simoneau and Davidson: sign them to AHL contracts then NHL contracts if they perform. Only reason we could was because both were drafted as overagers.

His teammate Epperson could he be late round pick? First year in OHL. Putting up decent numbers, looks like bit of spunk to his game.

The last 17 year old to do it was Tony Tanti in 80-81.

However, Lindros had 71 in only 57 games in his 17 year old season in 90-91. That's 4th for g/pg on the all-time list.

So far, Misa sits 6th for g/pg ahead of guys like John Tavares, Stephen Stamkos & Patrick Kane. It's still really early.

He only has 13 assists in 18 games, though.

He’s not really showing it as much this year but Misa is a very good playmaker also.

Misa really improved this season. On pace for 80 goals, only scored 29 last year. If he continues like this I predict he goes first overall

It's mostly been the mental aspect, he's trusting his skills a lot more this season, trying individual plays and using his shot when he used to just play it safe and be a complementary player. The permanent move to center has made a big difference as well, it forces him to carry the puck more. More active, less passive, in short.

Hes just more assertive. Using his speed, hands and shot more, on top of his defensive game that already was impressive when he was 16. Hes so involved and so good at retrieving pucks in every zones. Hes legit. I have him second behind Schaefer

As of now I like him more than I liked William in his draft year. Seems a little smaller but he might grow still.

He’s having a very good start of the season in the Alsvensskan. I think he’ll get more hype in a couple of months.

His brother was in a weaker draft class, where as Eklund is an awesome prospect in this class, he's probably not being talked about before the top 4 + Mcqueen; after that he's firmly in the mix for me.

I doubt he would be our target, but all depends on when we pick and who is there but I'd have to imagine if that top 5 is gone that we'd be looking more at Desnoyers and Spence, guys who bring offense, not at the Eklund level, but provide those winning dimensions outside of that through their defensive play, motor and physical games.

Well he's definitely getting noticed. He has 11 goals and 10 assists in his last 10 games.

On another note, Pierre Dagenais's son Maddox Dagenais (2026 draft eligible) had started off his season very strong in the Q with but has tailed off a bit lately. He still has 16 points (including 7 goals) in 16 games. Like his dad, he's a big boy as he's already 6 foot 2 at 16 years old. He was the 1st overall pick in the 2024 QMJHL draft.

How is desnoyer's skating? Is it just mediocre? Looks like a smart player, but lacks a first step maybe?? Thx

His skating is slightly above average I would say. Powerful strides but little bit of a heavy first step. He's a big boy though so I don't think he will ever be the fleetest of foot, but will be very effective in the NHL, especially at the cycle. Great hands for a big man too.
