2025 NHL DRAFT

Assuming Schaefer and Misa go 1/2, I could see either Frondell or Desnoyers at 3 ahead of either Hagens or McQueen.
Frondell, maybe but I have a feeling teams will regret not going with Hagens in the top-3 or top-four. So dynamic offensively combined with insane compete level will make him a star player in this league, no doubt. I actually think he could be on Jack Hughes-level, if not better cause of his compete level.

IMO The org. should be focused on the true 1C to properly set our lines..... 1C, ROR/Svech, ROR/Svech, Sissons. Line blend the Ws till you find chemistry. I want 6 2nd pairing D with some size w/ a stay at home/PMD on each pair. This team needs to quit trying to run the O through the D

Agreed. And also, they’re getting a lot of looks on Hagens constantly when they’re observing Stiga’s development.
I'm not sure what characteristics they'll value. Given it's Trotz, maybe he'll want a 1C with a great defensive game with a plan that they'll coach up his offense. But for all I know, they'll score these kids based on something like "probability of surviving a prison brawl" as their go to metric.

I don’t see that upside with Hagens. I see perhaps more Granlund level. Nice player but not really 1c on a competitive team. Frondell has maybe best shot in draft, good size, and still projects at center; if he has strong u18 i expect he goes 3rd. I also prefer Desnoyers, who strikes me as Nick Suzuki type who you play 20 minutes a night for a decade, over Hagens.

I disagree, I think Hagens already excels at some of the hardest things to meaningfully improve as a prospect (vision/IQ) and his skating is excellent which is another difficult skill to play catchup on. I'm not terribly worried that he didn't totally dominate college. It's harder to put up eye-popping numbers in the NCAA than juniors to begin with, and he's 18 in a league full of 22-25 year olds. He's not a can't-miss generational prospect or anything but I'd be happy with him.

How does Hagens compare to Wright?
I don't think they're very similar players.

Wright is more of a "traditional" center if you will, bigger, creates more offense by driving to the net and is more a finisher of plays/scorer. Has physicality to his game which I think will just keep evolving as he gains more experience. Skating has more powerful stride but less frequency which is common for bigger guys.

Hagens is a dynamo on skates, constantly harassing opponents without the puck and when he does have the puck, he's buzzing over the ice creating chances for him and his teammates. More of a playmaker than a scorer, but I think his shot is developable. The viewings I've had on Hagens haven't shown his best abilities in creating chances off the rush but I think that's going to be a major thing for him offensively once he gets to the NHL.

I think Hagens has more line "driver" qualities than Wright although I do think Wright's going to be a legit top-six center for years to come.

Should've been more specific, I meant as overall prospect ranking

Ah, right.

I guess they're pretty similar in the sense that both of them were ranked as #1 prospect going into their draft year but ended up falling (ofc, in Hagens' case this WILL happen).

As far as prospect speculation goes, I'd say that Hagens has the higher ceiling of the two but a lower floor than Wright.

Center with 1st pick
Dmen with atleast one of the other first round picks. Fiddler is a big RD. Also wouldn't be upset with another center like Ryabkin.

Grab a goalie in the 2nd and more defenseman. Then best of what's left.

Or we try and package some 2nds to move up our later 1st.
Is that Verns kid?

My take on who we need to draft is an easy one. You take the best available center with out first pick no matter what. Doesn't matter if we're 1 or 4. This franchise has had many top defenseman in their history and yet only has one cup appearance where we rode a hot goalie. I just don't believe you go far in this league without a number 1 center. I get we have holes on the defensive side so I would use those 2 out of the next 4 picks to draft defenseman. I really like fiddler. We need physical defenseman who play a better defensive game than offensive. We need our next ekholm. But that first pick has to be a center. What im really hoping is that tampa and vegas both gets beat in the 1st round and we end up with 3 top picks in top 20
