Who should we pick 3rd overall (assuming Schaefer and Misa are gone)?

Doesn't the 2026 have quite a few high end C options in addition to McKenna? They should be bad enough to easily be in the hunt for a top 5 pick.

You need to let the kids play if they earn the spot and no more intentional tanking by hitting the cap floor with terrible overpaid old guys who are just collecting a check. That's bad for the locker room and culture in general. No more guys like Foligno, Perry, Brodie, etc.

Bedard is 0.85ppg across two seasons as a center. He's still a teenager.

I just can't comprehend why anyone would call him a winger.
because people have unrealistic expectations and expect immediate gratification. The only thing I literally am down a bit on Bedard over is his lack of speed which dropped noticeably from yr 1 to yr 2..kid has elite hot and playmaking ability and that been on full display for 2 yrs. Give him some real linemates and 65 pts a season will jump to 85-90

Desnoyer Has been described as a Phillip Danault (with more offence) or a Nate Danielson (with more offence) .His Q stats are superior to Patrice Bergeron's. Seems to me like a two way 70 point plus pivot . Solid in the trenches , playoff performer , much more certainty than similar prospects available . I'm sold unless Misa is available than the Scouting staff will earn their salaries . Desnoyer seems like a likeable team first glue guy not a fancy selfish non playoff all about stats .

Part of me doesn’t get that one of the biggest criticisms of Desnoyers is just that he plays in the Q. Sure it’s not the best league by any stretch but players have turned into stars playing their draft years in much worse leagues.

Everyone likes Desnoyers it's impossible to watch him and not like his game. The upside is just not exciting for a third overall pick.

Do you want a Matthew’s or a Barkov leading your team in the playoffs? I know Misa has the numbers but is Desnoyers good enough at everything to be a better NHL er?

I think the Interviewing process will shake the bushes for Kyle D . Humble and team oriented or self absorbed should be fairly transparent . Watching these hilights you can see how team oriented Caleb is .I believe the last guy we picked from Moncton was none other than Corey Crawford .

I think the upside concerns are pretty overblown. The potential is there to turn into a pretty good offensive forward that plays good defense as well. He flashes some real nice offensive tools

As everyone watching these playoffs and every playoff for that matter can plainly see (without mentioning names ) selfish all offence types that play great during the regular season and soft don't cut it when the whistles get put away. J Toews so underrated two way play is so superior to other's that collect fancy stats and disappear. Desnoyers flying a bit under the radar in this regard .

the reason Im on board with Des or Frondell is both have above league Avg size. both are known for 2 way play and both project as a center. is Des a sexy pick at 3? no! But If you end up with a playoff caliber #2 Center that is selke Caliber that is not bad. also he put up much stronger # then danult in his drat year by about 1/3. he is also bigger. You can find wings that can put up pts. you cannot find 2 way top 6 true centers. look at Teows and Kane. they were always on 2 different lines. so which line was # 2. it depended on who got the last change. so it was more like 1a and 1b.

The more you watch Desnoyers in the playoffs, he seems to fit the mold of what Chicago is trying to build.

This kid is a Towes-Lite. He can really skate and has a nice skill set. The two-way game would be nice to add to the mix. Bedard-Nazar-Boisvert-Desnoyer

Crosby, MacKinnon, Kucherov, Marchand, Hischier, Meier, Mercer, Dobson, Marchessault, Danault, Huburdeau…

All guys that played in the Q, so while it may produce less NHL talent than the other CHL leagues it does still produce some quality NHL talent.

Projecting Des as a selke caliber player right now is frankly nuts

That's setting yourself up for disappointment

I'm not projecting at all ,I'm saying he gives me a really good gut feeling . The same way Jonathan Toews did back in 2006 .Salt of the Earth ,100% team guy . Misa very well could be more talented at this point but the intangibles are difficult to measure . Toews & Bergeron had so much heart that cant be measured . Time will tell.

There aren't that many Selke caliber players in the NHL

And Des doesn't do things defensively that other top 2 way guys have in the past like Celebrini or Beniers.

I only watched parts of 3 games and hilights , but came away impressed with his 2 way play . He was +51 (on a stacked team) .

Will Scouch agrees with Musto. Time will tell , Character counts #1 If you wanna win . It's lazy to just say it's the Q !!

The thing I find amusing is that people keep referring to Moncton as a “stacked” or top team but what they fail to recognize is that Desnoyers is their guy, he is the top dog, far and away their top scorer in both regular season and playoffs.

He is the biggest reason they are viewed as a “stacked” team and he is in his draft year, he is not an older player by junior standards.
