Post-Game Talk: Smiling Stu Shutouts x 2!

but stuart skinner sucks, and jeff skinner is being mismanaged by the coach. and draisitl is playing horribly. and the offer sheet of broberg and holloway was franchise killing. and don't put kapanen in. bouchard is a shrinking violet. taking ardvesson out was moronic.

you people know who you are and you should be embarrassed for yourself and also how you are portraying oilers fans. i'd tell you to leave forever, but you won't, because in your convoluted world, a world where you can't skate backwards, you've somehow concluded that you know more than men who have dedicated their entire lives to the game of hockey.

I think I heard someone on one of the overtime shows a couple weeks ago propose that Pickard be our starter and Skinner our closer in a baseball-pitcher-like rotation. Still sounds crazy, but.....

On a night like last night, imagine how it felt as a Leafs as you watch your season go down the toilet earlier than they expected for the 9th year in a row and seeing yet another former Leaf factor big in an Oilers win.

f*** man, I'm actually genuinely starting to feel bad for them.

There is a pecking order, and Cuthbert and Simpson will get the top billing. Apparently if the Jets had lost against the Blues we would have gotten the duo that are calling their games against the Stars.
Not from what I heard. I heard Rogers got a lot of flack by the Oilers management about not have Jack Michaels last year, and they followed it up this year. I mean, if we are going 'pecking order', then Singh should have continued with Winnipeg's 2nd round series.

Singh is low man on the totem pole, and got replaced with the duo that called the Sens games in the first round. It was awesome that Rogers listened to fans and had Jack do playoff games, but they will still have their number one duo call the games of the last Canadian team standing next round, just the way it is. Michaels is a regional broadcaster while Cuthbert and Bartlett are national broadcasters.

That sounds crazy. If Dallas and Carolina win tonight and Florida tomorrow all four are done. We are going to have 5-6 days off for all four teams before starting conference finals?
That's what Gregor said to him. It was on the DFO podcast. Frank said yup, it would start around then.

The NHL's insistence to drag out the last two rounds as long as humanly possible is indescribably stupid.

This seems to be a new thing over the past 4/5 years where they decide that Game 7 of the Final is going to be some absurd date like June 24th (this year) and then make that happen no matter how quickly the series prior finishes.

Right when people are into it and excited for the next round, they manufacture an extended break right when summer hits. Smart.

I mean last year they decided to give Florida a chance to heal up even though they went 7 games so I could see it happening that way. Anything to ensure the cup drought for Canada.

It’s bad that nowadays any time a big goal is scored all the coaches on both teams have to look at their tablets to make sure it’s not going to be challenged.

Even Drai skated up to the tablet and had a look lol.

Even for me it killed some of my celebration because I was thinking "f*** there was traffic, this is probably going to get challenged."

It's not just the coaches that have to pause, I hate it that as fans we are now preconditioned to just assume that any goal that is remotely contestable may be reviewed, and our celebration is paused. I know with the goal last night I raised my arms, but just waited at least half a minute before I let out a sound. It really takes away the spontaneity of enjoying a big goal like that.

"I mean, we had our chances, we just couldn't really capitalize. It's more on us, than probably, them"

Post game and post series words from Pietrangelo. As if I can't stand him enough already, he gives comments with not one of them giving any credit to an Oilers team that just demolished him and his band of inbreds.
The only thing that would have made this series better is Pietrangelo breaking his wrist on the series winning goal.

I have May 19, 1984 etched in my brain, which is the day we won our first cup. We will just be finishing up the second round this year at that point. Just ridiculous.

Not surprising.

I would assume Arena dates are all tentatively scheduled and then locked down for playoffs as a team continues through a series. The remaining dates are released for other events for rental and planning purposes.

Would seem confusing to then try to adjust them on a moments notice because a series wrapped earlier and the NHL wants to start a day or two earlier.

I mean they aren’t even the primary tenant in a lot of these buildings.

I remember June 19th as the Game 7 loss in 2006, and at that time there was discussion about how insanely late that was, with it being caused by the Olympic break. I took a look at it, and generally in a worst case it wasn't going past June 15th if it went to 7. Then randomly they decided that going to the bitter end of June was better about 4 years ago.

Even from a competitive standpoint, it's bullshit that a team wins the Cup, then their management has to scramble to prepare for the draft like a day later. Those teams are at a major disadvantage for no reason other than they were good. Parade? Pfft don't worry about that.

Meh, the Oilers were okay, is all. Vegas just gave up with no compete. A speedbump.;)🍌
Board is wonky, not sure if the reply will show because Leafs are falling again.

Nah, credit Oilers. But @Cloned was right. Kings were a better test.

Vegas had their guts ripped out in game one. Up two goals in game one, at home, and they don't take it home. You can't lose like that.

I remember years ago when Oilers were underdogs against Dallas in 97 and came from behind 3 goals in I believe game 3. Dallas lost that game and ultimately the series because it sowed such great seeds of doubt. The OIlers are exceptional planting those seeds.
