Who should we pick 3rd overall (assuming Schaefer and Misa are gone)?

Yes so this most certainly seems to be the short list.

Learning more about Frondell, playing in a men's professional league at 17 is impressive...The Barkov comparison is appealing...
He’s not Barkov at all. I actually think he’s probably a winger in the NHL. Think a more physical Josh Norris (the version that scored 35 goals before all the shoulder injuries).

I know Norris is a center but that’s the comp I keep coming back to

Powers mocked Martone to the Blackhawks at 3 on lottery night.

Wheeler's justification for disregarding Martone at 3 in his mock is that he doesn't think they'll be interested since he isn't a plus skater, but I'm more inclined to put stock in Powers saying they do like Martone at this point
Then for the Toronto 1st round pick he slots Shane Vansaghi for the Hawks in his mock. Vansaghi's skating on a good day is average and that might be generous. Wheeler > Pronman but I wonder about both and take their rankings with a grain of salt.

And yes, Powers is the one to watch for the Hawks pick.

Frondell is just a better version of a player we already have, Boisvert.
Agreed. But how much better?

I didn't do cartwheels of excitement when the Hawks picked Boisvert but have come around on him. He seems to be around the net more than Frondell and if he can add 15 pounds of muscle he could be a force along the wall. His one-timer is pretty good.

Same and same. I like Boisvert. I don't even hate Frondell I just think its close between those names and Martone/Desnoyers are more unique to our organization.

Blackhawks are in good position to draft at number 3. This isn´t like 2004 when there was clear top 2 and after that more or less leftovers. Sure there isn´t Ovechkin and Malkin kind of talents either but I don´t think there is that wide talent gap (if any) between Schaefer, Misa and others. Like Davidson said public rankings are different than organisation´s and every organisation´s draft boards are different.

I have trust in Hawks scouting staff (at least much more than in internet scouts) and will be excited about the pick whoever they choose. Good choices to have and hopefully Hawks hit home run with their pick.

And with the justification being that the Blackhawks will try to take projectable bottom sixers (which the org frankly has in spades at this point) to offset the "little speedsters". Meanwhile still on the board in his mock are guys like Wild Bill Zonnon and Jack Murtagh, who fit the same projectable bottom six part, more closely fit the traits that this regime values, and are ranked a tier ahead in Wheeler's own ranking from a few days ago. It's a weird mock for sure

I am as excited about the leafs 1st and our 2nd as I am about #3.

I know you singled out me because you like me more than the other mods. And because I am the moderator of the people, I will oblige with your request.

If Schaefer and Misa are gone by the time the Hawks pick... I'm thinking that Martone would be my preferred choice even though his skating is poor. f*** I wish a Hagens wasn't so small with the Hawks already having Bedard and Nazar who aren't very big. Otherwise I would be all over Hagens at 3 of the other two are gone.

Desnoyers is not someone I would want to spend a 3rd overall pick on.

I wish the Q had more than like 10 already drafted kids from Rounds 1-3 playing it to get a better feel from Desnoyers compared to the OHL guys.

% Presently Undrafted

QMJHL - 95 %
WHL - 90 %
OHL - 85 %

Desnoyers is listed at 6/2 but has always looked smaller to me and in Bob Mckenzies ranking that just came out he's listed at like a bit over 6 foot. Interested to see the combine measurement come in
