Your opinion on having Hagens so clearly ahead of guys like Desnoyers and Frondell is now a minority opinion among people whose job it is to watch these kids and project their skill to the pros. So you tell me

I wouldn't trade Rinzel for 2nd overall.

Not after what I've seen from Rinzel at the NHL level.

Yeah, so McKenzie's list that used 10 random scouts out of the hundreds in the league has Frondell ahead of Hagens after the latter spent the last couple years including just weeks ago as the better talent. Overanalysis. Using this as proof of anything means zip.

I'll be honest, I wouldn't trade him for 1st overall.

Rinzel already looks like a 1D.

Schaefer projects as one, but he's still years away from getting there. I wouldn't want to set us further back. There's really no point.

You're drafting him to play with Bedard, IMO. He's the pick if Misa is gone, and arguments can be made that he's the pick anyway.

McKenzie's list is routinely the best look we get at how the league sees the draft ahead of time and one of the only rankings that is both a) a composite of several people's opinions, rather than just reflecting one scout's preferences and b) reflective of the opinions of people actually employed by NHL teams to scout draft eligible players. Discount it if you want I guess but I don't really know what else you'd ask for in this specific discussion

I don't even know what to do with the bolded. Rankings change over the course of the year, that isn't really something new

I think the 2 best fits for the Hawks at forward at#3 woukd be Caleb Desnoyers or Brady Martin.

We will discuss Desnoyers more as eyes will be on himnas Moncton keeps matching to a Q Championship run and on to the Memorial Cup..
As to Brady Martin...though he ranked ariubd 11ti early teens on many Kurt's,after hisxgreatvimoact and oerformace at the u18s...he passed tge eye test so much that Craig Buttin said do not be surprised if he goes top 5...

You read this and then you add it to your eye test from what you saw at thevu18s and thisvis exactly the kind of hockey player you want to the ice.

So much detail to like on this kid. for your to like about this kid.

So I think you have to factor this into tge decision..

Martone has a lit more points ...but whikevhe is a true power forwardxwith puck sjikks,he lacks speed but more importantly his competevlevel is inconsistent..
His season took a downturn firxabout 6 weeks fronmid January thru end of February after a hot start (was keeping pace with Misa earlier ) ..Some scouts also called him lazy on sone games..A bit of a red flag issue to me.
When he applies s himself he can be very impactful..but if he no shows too much or on certain shifts of games...thatvis concerning.

He could be #3,but also could be #6 or worse.

I guess you have to believe in more upside IF he really "wants it"..but Hawks do not need guys coasting on talent alone.There has to be desire and compete.

Anyway ..read that article deep profiling Brady Martin.

He will be a top six pro in the NHL for along impactful career.He will tiktvthevice..Surrounded by goidvpkayer hecwill elevatevthem and the team compete level.

To me hevis one ofvthe mostvintriguing prospectscin this draft.
