Do you know anybody that can change a Misa tattoo into Desnoyers...?Welcome Caleb Desnoyers!
Why would they do that? Seems pretty reasonable to let go of the Misa dream now and just focus on who is BPA between Martone/Hagens/Frondell/Desnoyers.I have a feeling the Sharks are taking Martone. That’ll leave Misa to the Hawks. Still on track folks.
The whole time we were saying we couldn’t fall to fourth and we didn’t. This worked out well considering the Hawks defense is already taken care of.
Smith and Celebrini are both centers. I know Smith played wing this year but I think they’ll strongly consider that big winger to put next to Celebrini. I don’t think they have that currently in their system. Why would they do that? If Misa miraculously falls to three, then awesome.
This happens every time there is a NCAA player with an early birthday. He's been done with hockey for a while and has no more to play so the pundits literally forget about him.I think Hagens is being slept on a bit. I've got him at 4.
We need to infiltrate the Islanders board and wage mental warfare tactics to trick them into selecting Hagens....Smith and Celebrini are both centers. I guess we don’t either but I wouldn’t be disappointed with Martone either.
History has not been very kind to consensus #1s at the start of the year that slid down draft boards.Does it feel a little big brainy to not just take the consensus one coming into the year that mostly slid to 3 because expectations of others were exceeded and his was merely just met...Maybe just take Hagens and avoid overthinking it...or if you don't take Hagens then take Martone who was also consensus top 3
Stylistically? I can get people saying we need size, here, but "stylistically" he fits what KD and Doneghey crave quite a bit. Dude can fly and has great edge work, tons of skill in his 5'11" frame. The fears of him being a perimeter player a bit overblown, but he doesn't have the edge we need in a top 6 F.Per Powers, he did not mention Hagens at all as an option the Hawks were looking at. Makes sense to me because stylistically he isn't a fit. We know Schaefer will be off the board by #3 and Misa is the most likely pick at #2 (but still possible).
If the options come down to Desnoyers, Martone, or Frondell, who would you guys like the Hawks to pick?
I would be happy if we picked Martone.
He checks a few boxes that we desperately lack in an elite prospect.
He's a wing.
He's got great size.
His hockey IQ is high end.
At the moment his skating is an issue. It might not be in 5 years. Having a slower skater is not always a negative. Look at this goal.
The slower Stone makes the break out to the faster Crosby. Crosby races up ice and takes some defenders with him. Crosby does a 180 and finds the trailer who is the slower Stone. Stone is at the right place at the right time because of his hockey IQ.
This could be Nazar to Martone for the next 15 years.
Fair argument - who are the recent examples?History has not been very kind to consensus #1s at the start of the year that slid down draft boards.
