2025 NHL Draft Thread

We're 1 point up on SJS with 3 games in hand. 32 games left for us which is a lot of hockey but last place is currently looking out of reach. The Sharks are probably due for some wins though, they're 2-8 in their last 10 meanwhile we're 3-4-3.

A shootout loss to NSH, W against Vegas, OTL's against Tampa and Carolina, and beating Tampa were not very helpful for the tank or expected based on the strength of schedule. I'm not too worried about it as I'm glad these kids are starting to play well.

To expand on this a bit, Sharks have the 3rd hardest remaining schedule and the Hawks are 16th, according to Tankathon.

I'd say the odds of the Hawks jumping them back into dead last are against them without some major injuries.

I feel guilty for thinking this, but I kind of prefer finishing second to last this year and drafting 2nd and ideally taking Misa. Imagine a top line in 2-3 years of...

Nazar-Bedard-Rantanen
XXX-Misa-Bertuzzi
Dach-Moore-TT

That's the making of a pretty solid top 9. Just need to figure out who the legit second line guy is for Misa, if they go that route.
This is my ideal scenario as well. If we can keep our draft lotto eligibility for McKenna or Dupont, yes please. I don't believe Schaefer is close to being on the level of those two prospects.

I didn't even think of Boisvert being an option when I posted that. Imagine him with his size and style with Misa. That could be one nasty second line.

Misa Now Up to 191 lbs at 6'1

DraftPros just released a scouting report on him on YouTube. The best way to describe it in one word? Flawless. He has no noticeable weaknesses and checks every box in his game. He'll likely be the OHL Player of the Month shortly.
OK you have me sold on Misa.

I'd happily eat crow on Boisvert.

I am hoping Boisvert signs once college is done this spring. Would be nice to get him in the system as soon as we can.
No reason whatsoever for Boisvert to be one and done. He’s had a very solid year and needs to go back and build on it. Big thing with him is finding shift to shift (and game to game) consistency. Much easier to work on that in college than the AHL. Especially considering he’ll be 19 next year

Yeah I'm here as well. I think Schaefer is the 1OA, but Misa is awesome and our forward group would be so exciting with him. As exciting as our d-core basically.

Not a believer in Kantserov btw? I think he's easy top 9 in 2 years.

Oh I have nothing against him, I just don’t follow him as closely as I probably should have.

If any line was going to click with his smaller size it would probably be with being paired with guys like Misa and Boisvert. Way too early to say if it would actually work or not, but in theory it seems like it could be a dynamic line.

Then let Moore anchor a defensive third line and PK.

And then there’s Lardis, Spellacy, Pridham, and Mustard. And I’m probably forgetting someone.

If even a third of the prospects hit, Hawks are sitting pretty.

Ugh I wish the Hawks lucked out and got 1st overall last year. Celebrini looks like a stud.

Tell me about it. That one still stings. If you gave me the option of...

Celibrini + 5th OA in this draft vs Lev & Schaefer/Misa, well, I know which combo I'm picking without hesitation.

Yeah but now do:

Smith + Celebrini + 5th Overall

vs

Bedard + Levshunov + Schaefer/Misa

Bedard >> Smith
Levshunov < Celebrini
5th Overall ??? Schaefer/Misa

Maybe my brain isn't working well this morning, but I was just talking about the sting of not winning the lottery last year again and not necessarily anything preceding it.

But yes if you go a year further back I'd prefer the Bedard side as well.

I understand completely but you can't bemoan not winning the lottery last year without being grateful that we jumped 2 spots to #1 to pick a superior prospect in the previous draft
