2025 NHL Draft Thread

no not every move.. Bedard was a good pick and I liked Nazar but other than that ya dogshit and pennies on the dollar moves. Major overpayments past 2 yrs for straight washed up vets.

Thats pretty extreme viewpoint on propects! Hard say that this early as prospects take time like I said to BWC.

Also what veterans would you have brought in that were available and were realistic for Hawks. Dont say Guentzel as Hawks tried to sign him but he chose Tampa for obvious reasons!

Brodie was head scratcher but other than that just place holders until prospect are ready.

Can’t find Hagens stats, but I believe he’s above 50%. Misa as of early January was above 54%. For comparison, Greene above 54% and Moore above 51%.
After last night's games:
Ryan Green has taken 379 draws in 22 games and has won 209 of them for a 55% success rate. He averages 19:55 ice-time per game.
Oliver Moore has taken 421 draws in 25 games and has won 210 of them for a 50% success rate. He averages 17:05 ice-time per game.
Face-offs are one of those things that gets better as one ages. With Moore being 2 years younger than Greene I expect his numbers to be at least as good as Greene's by the time he's at the same age.

I mean yeah he did overpay for a bunch of vets. But that's how you fill out a roster while tanking/rebuilding. I mean someone has to play games while the kids are developing.

None of the overpayments have term on their deals and will be off the books by the time they have to pay anyone. Yeah the Brodie deal is looking awful but is it really going to prevent them from doing anything that they want to do?

People are getting so worked up about players who won’t be here two years from now when the games start to matter. Let the kids marinate for now. Kyle needs to stay the course.

but then they pluck away the rockford coach for a team that is going to finish last anyway instead of just leaving them all in rockford to try to build a winning culture there while the main team continues to stack tank wins

Every plan is great until you get punched in the face. Yeah, they underachieved to start the season so they had to fire the coach. It's really easy to question everything after the fact. So what would you have done differently?

Who cares about Rockford? We went from Q-->Colliton-->King-->LuRich. That's a huge drop off and a long time of having a terrible coaching unit. The NHL is what matters and we have enough young kids up on the Hawks, not in Rockford, that need to learn a decent structure while they're up here. This is way better than have them be offensively suffocated by Richardson or doing god knows what with a a guy like Colliton.

Bedard, Bertuzzi(not young but important), Teuvo, Vlassic, Reichel, Allan, Kurashev, Nazar, Crevier, Dach, Kaiser, Del Mastro, and Korchinski. When these guys are in the lineup we're hoping theyre getting better as young NHLers. It doesn't help us to have them play like shit just to finish last instead of second to last. When guys like Korchinski, Levshunov, Slaggert, etc...do come up from Rockford I'd rather they be hopping into an established system that's at least a decent way of playing hockey as opposed to a total mess.

Hawks CANNOTv rely on wingers bir both top 2vkinesxto take faceoffs...

Of Bedard is C =32% = Terribke.. waste ifvtonexas always starting withoutvtge puck and chasing whetgervin o-zovevor d-zone...

Havecto see if Nazar is C Anand Bedardxat wing what Nazarxdoes on draws..if low again,it is a big problem for linec1.

As to linev2..again lip-squeak 5'10.5 C in HGens who also is wellbeing water in draws=NO Way Hawks want that again..

Clearly if Hawks do not get tge #1inDmanSchaefer(do it all franchise #1Dnan..#2KD) then next target has got to be Michael Misa as a 2C solution whose alk roubd game ,soze, soeed are all better than Bedard plys he is almost 55% on drawsand takes lots of draws ..in effectva greatx2C solution whose talent is 1C anyway.
Will gove Bedard or Nazar a run for the money as Hawks best center and so you coukd get the 2C both out-sxoribg the 1C ...driving a libecand better shot and possession metrics and at least giving Hawks a 1-2punch up the middle for a change. The very threat of a cl patent rented C forcthe2nf kine shoukd help ease checking pressure on line 1 because now oops have to pick their poison to try to stop.

In any case..Hawks need an elite 2nd top six C,an eklte 2C..to drive kinec2 and maybe even to be thevtop scorer on the Hawks.

However theyvalso need a top #1D...so.5 is not that despite his big minutes.. zschaefer looks to be exactly that even though he is a LD...but one which cobtrol a game when on shift...ellte ellte inpact.

So very clear to me there are 2 CLEAR solutions for very important Hawks needs that have to be solved for and not YET in the pipeline..

So 1 Schaefer 2.Misa

If Hawks land neither because both off the boardxif Hawks pick at#3 or#4 , then pssiblyvtradexdpwn if a teamwabts Martone and still get Desnoyers as a C...even better defense from the C position...even better faceoff w% than Misa...and still lots of offebsive talent and impact. If a team took him 4d then still get Martobexat #4...

So I think these 4 should be the top 4 Hawks targets..

If Hawks can package the Toronto 1st and our own 2nd to move back up earlier into round 1 ,tgere could becaxtraget they woukd like to get in the teens...

Or maybe a package of thise picks for an existing roster player fron another team who are pick short this draft and may already have others blocking the right role for this younger player Hawks targeting in a trade?

I see the value in this draft is picking forwards in the 10-25 range. Kindel, Murtagh, Bear, Spence, O'brien, Martin, Lakovic, Carbonneau, Eklund, Zonnon, and Cootes. Some might go earlier or later, but the meat of this draft are these guys who all have a fair chance of being top 6 forwards, some more than others.

We can bank on Toronto screwing up to get 1-2 of these guys

While I wished we got more from the vet's we did bring in, they are decent pro's----Foligo, Hall, Donato, Teravainen, Martiniez, Bertuzzi......they are influencing the future leaders, the culture to be and hopefully the prosperity that lies ahead. ....I like what's coming down the pipe, but it seems a ways away too.

I want Schaefer but I'll be happy with any of the top 3 forwards if we don't get the 1st pick.
I'm with you. Just finish last/low and if you get bumped to 3rd or 4th pick overall due to the lottery, take whoever is there.

As long as we leave this draft with one of Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, or Martone, I am good. I just don't want to see any big brain moves come draft day where we take someone off the board early on.
