Desnoyers is on my do not draft list. It’s probably not accurate, but Q players scare the hell out of me. It’s such an easy league to dominate, that the high end players never seem to pan out like they should.
I'm still a huge advocate for Desnoyers. He has a good frame, great two-way game, 60%+ on the faceoff dot, and has a lot more offensive upside than people give him credit for.

He leads his team in scoring by a significant gap. I don't really understand the Danault comparisons outside of being a strong two-way player. Danault has not once been close to leading his team in scoring and doesn't think the same way as Desnoyers

Our Leafs ouckbsits currently at #30.

I can see KD packaging that puck and our own 1st selection in round 2(currently #34) to move up to late teens/army 20s if there is a target Hawks brass wants who will not last to#30or latex20s if Leafs falter a bit down the home stretch.

I don’t know how some people can be so envious of the Sharks rebuild.

That defense is a complete disaster and Askarov looks like hot garbage. There’s no chance we can out tank them, especially if we finally bench Brodie.

Askarov had a .912 save % coming into this game. I find it funny you are judging him after this game, especially playing with a tire fire defense in front of him. It would be like us judging Commesso with our shit defense last year.

And I will continue to do so. He swims a lot, and I can’t stand that in a goalie. So his highs will be high but his lows will be god awful.

Not interested in Desnoyers at all.

What is your argument behind this?

"Desnoyers was ranked as high as No. 5 by one scout and no lower than No. 10. He’s viewed as a safe and secure pick. If you believe his offence will pop at the pro level, he’s a top five consideration."

That doesn´t sound that bad if Hawks pick around 6-8 which they likely won´t.

We can't out suck the Sharks. They are on a whole different level than us. They can blow a 5-1 lead and a 3rd period tie like no one else. Their goaltending is horrendous. Trading Blackwood just to tank has worked wonders for them. Sabres did the same thing in the McDavid draft and look how that has worked out... Losing on purpose is never good. At least with us, we try to win and we don't.

On the plus side... our 23 year old and under players are a lot better than theirs.

Yeah, their tank game is strong right now. Hawks will have 2 games in hand when we go on the break for the 4 Nations gimmick. 8 games to go for Chicago and 6 against playoff teams, STL on the bubble, and a much better Nashville team of late. That's a tough 8 games ahead.

v. Tampa
v. Minnesota
@ Tampa
@ Carolina
@ Florida
v. Edmonton
v. Nashville
@ St. Louis

SJ has 6 games between now and the break and will play 3 teams currently out of the playoff picture in Pittsburgh, Montreal, and Seattle. Hopefully we can catch up a few points but barring a huge injury, right now it's difficult to imagine a scenario in which the Hawks finish with less points than the Sharks.

The odds are high that the Hawks get either the # 1, 2 or 3 pick.
So that's Schaefer, Misa or ? maybe Martone.
Not much sense in worrying. Either way we get another very good prospect.
I'm torn to a degree in which one of Schaefer or Misa would be the best fit long term in building another championship team but we can't really go too wrong either way.
We must trust the Hockey Gods .... and uncle Gary.
And seeing as he is retiring soon perhaps he wants to do a good one for his favourite original sixer!

Schaefer would be the biggest impact because he is just flat out elite a true #1 Dman..then it would be tie for me between Hagens and Misa. Hagens seems like more of a natural playmaker and Misa has better size and scorer mentality. Martone would be solidly at #4 because of his skating

Well we look pretty free and clear of everyone else except the Sharks. So that'll guarantee us a top 4 pick and I'll be cool with any of them. I think I want Schaefer over all the others though.

We can figure out how to turn some of our young D into forwards later.

Exactly where I'm at.

If we pick 2nd then I think I'm all aboard the Misa train, would be content with Hagens, and might be a bit nervous with Martone but ultimately will be happy with any of them.

Last night Saginaw lost to 8-6 to Peterborough...Misa was 1g3a +1...(so still positive even though on for 2 goals agaisst at evens (neither if which wss his fault...shoddy goaltendibgbthis night by Saginaw)..

I have Michael Misa as the #2target after Schaefer at #1..and put Misa as the top forwatdabd top Center target if we do not get Schaefer as a special#1D future candidate at the #1overall...

Definitely top 2 C solution for the Hawks with 1C talent...

BUT looking at the gane highlights I dod notice how well Misa's LW played ...Kristian Epperson ...

He will turn 19 in May...went undrafted I the 2024 draft ...6"0 185 .had 1g 2a and+2 in this loss...consokidatedcranjibg is only#69 but ekitecprospectschas homas a late firstcat 27...he is mod 40s in entrance Scouting N.A ranking=so maybe latec50s overall...but in my eyectest I think he shoukd be close to the elitevprospects ranking of late first to maybe early 2nd range..

Yes playing with Misa will get you points.. but noticed how hot Epperson is kast10GP...
Liked his scoutibg report on eliteprospects com ..but what cemented my opinion on him was a play he made ladt night.. This is a kid who can tool around" the o-zone with speed and puck control/ossesdion having checkers chase and not catch him, then make the attack on net from a shot ,pass or carry in close for a scoribgvchance...we have seen this type of player who can do this cause misery to the Blackhawks as inevitable goals against the Hawks resukt...Eveb Bedard ...though he dies this better than all Hawks forwatds is not really exceptional at it and ofter gets stopped on lengthy puck control tooling around the o-zobe attemots..but this kid CN don't very well..eg. get the puck on your wing takevit across tgee top of the o-zone to other side then take it low aroubd back ofvthe net woth speed and control having g checkers chase...then out thevother side ..back up to the top of thevo-zobe on that side then either back towards other side but take it into the slotand fire or pass to one guy= lengthy puck possession torong out the chasing checkers ...Sonetbibg nobody on the Hawks reakky does well ..which is why even if Hawks get to o-zone they eitger go one and done or try 4-5 passes before somebody fibLky shoots ..but how much easier to scorevif a pkayer can control the puck skating around the zone with it with speed and the puck glued to his stick, tiring out defenders then rekeasibg or passing off to open team'?ates..Hawks need 1 of these types who have this ability in their tool kot.

So I woukd have Eperson as a target if not our Toronto first rounder,at least for our own first pick in round two, even though he is a D+1..Theceye test and his stays*prphectscto a 92 point sesson and has been realky good lsst 10GP.(7g 11a + 12) suggests elite prospects is more correct on his abilities than any biased otger rankings putting him far lower based on the fact he got passed over last draft.

Especially if we miss out on Schaefer and draft Misa, you get an already proven "duo" who work well together...

Misa makes the most sense on paper. 6'1, fast, centre, very productive.

I just dont see anything super dynamic when I watch him play. He'd still be my pick at 2 though
