Who should we pick 3rd overall (assuming Schaefer and Misa are gone)?

I only watched parts of 3 games and hilights , but came away impressed with his 2 way play . He was +51 (on a stacked team) .

Will Scouch agrees with Musto. Time will tell , Character counts #1 If you wanna win . It's lazy to just say it's the Q !!

I agree with Will's points on Desnoyers, but unless I misunderstood, Wheeler alludes to him having Desnoyers ranked around 20?

That's far too low.

Like I'm board with what he's saying about there being this pack of 3rd line guys... Eklund, Frondell, O'Brien, Spence, Lakovic, Carbonneau, Bear, Martin, Murtagh, Ryabkin, and so on...

but Des is probably top of that pack.

Eklund is the only one there that achieved what Des did in the postseason, so you could argue him ahead, but he's more limited in size and won't play center (older too).

Does he actually say those are all third line guys or is that your spin?

He said Des is a 3rd liner.

I don't know his stance on the other players mentioned. I don't follow his stuff.
That's horsecrap !! Are the guys on his line carrying him ? He seems at worst a 2 way top 6 forward . The video is 2 month's old . Wheeler says he moved him up to 5 to 7 . Scouch calls him a 3rd liner , he obviously thinks very little of the Q which is fine then he should be judged on his playoff/mem Cup & International performances . My Question is why couldn't Martone lift his team deep into the Playoff's , Caleb seems to have hoisted his team on his back . Common term used for Desnoyers is WINNER . I have not heard any sort of talk with Martone .

That's definitely not the case. His floor isn't a 2nd liner.

I agree with Will that he could end up a 3C... I just think it's nuts to have him at 20. This draft doesn't have a lot of sure fire top 6ers (I can count them on one hand), so I don't see how you can rank that many players above him.

I also think little of the Q, and I say that as someone that defended it for a while. But I find it has really fallen off in a big way. Desnoyers is a much better selection for me if you can get him to play college hockey next year. If not, and he's stuck in the Q for another 2 years... I don't like that for his development. He won't be challenged enough.

Can anyone chime in on
  • Ihs Wozniak big power forward with Leafs pick possibly ? Would be great to grab Bill Zonnon as well .

Wouldn´t mind Ihs Wozniak but I just don´t see him as a power forward. More of a finesse player or pp specialist comes to mind. Has put up really good numbers in juniors and broke Lucas Raymond´s point record there last year. Late first or early second round pick is a spot to land him.

I think they're all going to go to college. Why would anyone drafted in first round stay in a less competitive setting?

Latest Podcast on the Athletic with Corey , Chris , Max & Scott discuss the Blackhawks #3 . Frondell & Desnoyer's are the 2 guys the Blackhawks are believed to be looking at with the #3. Pronman also states that Misa & Desnoyers are the only two of the forward group that will not slip past #5. Martone seems like too much of a gamble. Compared him to possibly turning into a Kaapo Kakko . Desnoyer's all the way .

If Leafs, Jets, Capitals, Knights all lost this round that would be insanely clutch. Fingers crossed. Toronto losing obviously way more important than Winnipeg if don’t want to be greedy.

What is the best we can draft with the Leaf's 1st rder ? It seems like 24th ?
25th. They ended the season with the 4th most points (=29th pick) and so far two teams with fewer points have made the conference finals. If Toronto loses and Winnipeg loses that's two more teams with worse regular season records sliding into the 29-32 slots so the pick bumps up 4 slots to 25. If just Toronto loses and Winnipeg comes back, it'll be the 26th pick. (If Toronto comes back then forget the draft and get to your bunkers)

Ideal scenario would be:

29-32: Florida, Carolina, Dallas, Edmonton
28: Winnipeg
27: Washington
26: Vegas
25: Toronto

I'll take Will Scouches rankings with 10lbs of salty saltines. His rankings are pretty absurd. I'm pretty sure he had Oliver Moore in his top 5 and Dalibor Dvorsky outside his 1st round. I also remember when he had Fabian Lysell at like 3rd oa in 2021. He has some very odd takes and most have not looked great.

Here are a couple other from last year that are much different from consensus and do not look great at the moment;

Alfons Freij #5 oa
Adam Jiricek #6 oa

Luchanko #29
Solberg #30
Sennecke #31

He’s brutal. He does scouting report videos and cherry picks clips that fit his opinion.

He doesn’t like Lev, so he did a lev video that is mostly bad clips lol.

Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion but I find him a bit much.

How real do you think the smoke about NYI taking Hagens is?
I think its pretty real and a 3 team trade of rearranging draft order where everyone is happy between NYI, SJ, Chicago is doable. SJ goes to #1, Chicago #2, NYI #3..thinking like SJ 2nd rd pick to NYI and maybe Dallas 1st 2026 goes to Isles from Chicago. Biggest problem in NYI org is no one wants to sign or re-sign there. Hagens being talented and from that area certainly has a huge draw to that organization.
