2025 NHL DRAFT Prospects Undrafted Free Agents

Calling it now, Frondell just might rise to #1 in the draft. He has had a monstrous development after most draft rankings placed him #5-8. The last few weeks he has 16 points over 8 games in pro hockey while averaging 12 minutes per game. He's playing together with Victor Eklund and their line is absolutely tearing it up while playing in a professional league not far from AHL-standard.

The only U18 players who can compare through Hockeyallsvenskan history are David Pastrnak and William Nylander, but that's seen over the full season. What Frondell has displayed the last few weeks where his ice time grew completely lacks comparables. It's a small sample size, but it will be exciting to follow for sure.

I don't see him overtaking Misa or Hagens, or Schaefer for that matter. I could see 4th though, if teams are put off by Martone's skating and McQueen's injuries

With the NCAA season moving into conference playoffs next weekend and free agency beginning it's time to consider who might the Rangers try to sign. The Rangers haven't signed a top free agent since 2022 when they were able to get Bobby Trivigno and Brandon Scanlin. But with some weakness in the prospect system the Rangers might be looking to fill some of those gaps.

In his February 28 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman noted that the Rangers were one of three teams in on Dartmouth center, Luke Haymes. Haymes is a 6'1'' 191 lbs. center who's scored at a point a game for the last two years. Other bigger centers who could become available are Karsten Dorwart of Michigan State (#1 on Corey Pronman's recent free agent list), whose scoring at close to a point a game for three years, and Jack Stockfish of Holy Cross (#5 on Corey Pronman's recent free agent list) who Pronman says is a two way player.

Other player to keep an eye on is Liam McLinskey, big time scorer at Holy Cross for the last two years. He is tall but thin. Pronman says he is a "big winger with good puck skills and creativity. While the Rangers might not be looking for forwards, McLinskey is from Pearl Harbor, NY, is a cousin of rangers draft pick Drew Fortescue and the families are close.

I'd be watching big centers and big puck moving defensemen as potential Rangers targets.

The NCAA free agent analyses should be coming in the next week. On EP there is an analysis saying that skating is his biggest weakness but has improved significantly over the last year and he was call one of the few free agents with a "clear pathway to the NHL." We're talking about a bottom six center. Very unusual to get front line NHL players in these free agents. As an example a few years ago Connor Mackey was one of the top free agents and he's struggled to stay in the NHL.

Do the Rangers sign Gleb Veremyev, Laba's teammate?? His favorite team growing up is New York Rangers. I am not sure that Laba and Veremyev are on the same line but at 6'4 215 another big guy that can play.
