HF Habs: 2025 NHL Draft: Part II

No draft list now. Can't idolize the biggest choker.

I've assumed he will be there for when we pick and that he would be of interest to the Habs, I have at least one game of his but instead of doing any vids before the draft, I am going to wait and just do vids of whoever we draft. I don't know much of him yet but he certainly sounds very interesting.

Matthew Gard seems like the most obvious Gorton and Hughes pick and it might have to be as early as the 2nd round with the way teams in our division will look at the physicality of the Panthers and think it’s the best way to compete.

Ethan Czata is another guy I really like in the second round, if we decide to go that route. He has a nice mix of grit and skill.

What are these players like ?

Really have no idea who the Wings, Jackets, Canucks will pick. Id probably go Carbo/Kash at 13/14 :sarcasm:

Included 18-24 as potential Habs picks.

Give me Spence instead of Carbonneau and that's a great draft.
No1 overager pick from Scott Wheeler...Francisco Dell'Elce. And frankly, I have no idea why we didn't sign him already at the last dev. camp. Loved the guy. So solid. Also....so many names out t here that makes no sense they weren't picked before. Rautiainen, Cerrato, Pickford, Galvas, Park, Feldbergs, Cristoforo...
Wouldn't have been able to attend college but they should have drafted him instead of the Latvian goalie.

Pickford's numbers in the playoffs have been great. He's looked solid in the Memorial cup when I'm able to watch, so he would be a nice addition.

He is a MUST if he's there. Passing on him for guys with lesser but safer potential will be a mistake. ON my final list, I will put him where he should be disregarding the extent of injury as...I don't know. But there's NO WAY he should be there when it's our turn to talk.

Simon St Laurent in one of his youtube comments said this about Spence:

"It's not the mere fact that he's a Low-Upside player, it's that, for a guy like him that has always projected as a middle-of-the-lineup player, he needs to excel at some specific facets and/or bring something unique, and he doesn't. His forecheck game isn't that good, his intesity/compete-level was disapointing all year long (haven't watched his playoffs yet, apparently he was good). I also have tons of clips of dumb plays from him."

Like I said before, 0 interest in Spence at 16/17. Even in the 2nd round I'd probably pass on him. I think he got labeled as this Gallagher type player early in the year and people just ran with it without actually watching him.
I will be livid if they pass on Bear to get Spence. Spence has a great shot. Good vision. But his pace is horrid. You will not be able to make that guy a fast pace player in the NHL. There's too much of a gap. That's not what our team should look for. He has 1st round qualities. But as average this draft is...he should be picked after 20.

If he's there, we should definitely take him.

He's a complicated one to wrap your head around. Lots of potential but he's been either really good or really bland all season. He's definitely an option with our 2 firsts, if we go for a Dman.
Why do you keep insisting on LD? They aren’t going to take any LD at 16-17, especially not one that might be available in the 2nd round.

Which would be a reason as to why he’d be available at 16. If he didn’t have question marks, he’d be rated along with McQueen/Martone.

Also funny to say he didn’t watch him in the playoffs, where he played really well. GMs, especially in the Atlantic, are going to look at the Leafs and say they want guys that up their level of play in the postseason. It’s just the way it is.

Erie was also a mediocre team that fired their coach halfway through the season for reasons that have never been made clear. Who knows what was going on. Spence is now going to a stable program that has a lot of success in development. I assume whatever was going on affected him or he doesn’t make the move.

Finally some people here are catching up on Spence. Thanks Simon St Laurent I guess.

IMO at 16 or 17 we are in prime spot to solidy our team and make it a solid all around team. We don't need more 3rd or 4th liner we can draft them in the 2nd or 3rd round or even trade for them for little assets. What we need is legit top 6 talent or players that can fill a role long term like Center or RD.

One player that is not talked enough around here if we start talking about managing assets(players we don't need but is too talented to pass on) Cullen Potter, high risk but is talent is obvious and he could become a top 6 star winger. A winger version of Lane Hutson, he is everywhere and his skating is phenomenal.

We need a top 6 player with jam, fiestiness and small area skill around the net.

I like Potter but not with our 1sts. We can't have another small guy in that mix. We need another Slaf type. Caufield and Suzuki need Slaf.. but Demidov will need one, too.

For me, pace, skills and IQ screams 2nd liner for Bear. 3rd liner for Spence. I'm aiming at our picks to greater value. I understand your point about Erie though. Which again, for me, means 1st rounder FOR SURE. Just not top 20, at least for me.

I agree. My 2025 draft would be great for me if Habs can move up to get 1 of Bear or McQueen. I just wonder where do we need to move up to get a chance at one of them. 10OA-11OA-12OA?
