HF Habs: 2025 NHL Draft: Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Was at tonight’s game with Michael Misa and Saginaw visiting Brady Martin and the Soo Greyhounds.

Misa scored his 60th and added an assist.
He had an ok game but can be better. Now at 128 points.

Martin scored twice and was a plus 3. Was the game’s second star. His season totals are now 33-37-70.

Vintage Martin on Soo’s 3rd goal. Dish out the hit then score. Must see.

I am starting to really lean towards O'Brien/Desnoyers/Frondell and Martin/Carbonneau with our two first rounders but we are currently may not be in a position to draft any ot them imo.

O'Brien/Desnoyers/Frondell are my first choices as they would be incredible behind Suzuki as our #2 center. Much like Suzuki they have impressive IQ's and surprising skills as well as a 200 foot game. They are good kids with relatively high floors and high ceilings imo and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see O'Brien creep closer to the top where Desnoyers/Frondell are ranked. If any of them are available at the right spot I would strongly consider trading one of our firsts plus a prospect (Mailloux, Roy, Mesar, Engstrom etc) to acquire them. That might be a little steep to acquire Martin/Carbonneau but they are closing in on being my consolation prize if we don't get O'Brien/Desnoyers/Frondell.

I think Hughes should be aggressive in an attempt to secure Desnoyers, Frondell or O'Brien. O'Brien likely will come a little cheaper but I am not at all against overpaying with both of our firsts and even more if needed to acquire any of these three. We have a loaded pool as it is so we can afford to skim some of that depth to add 1 really meaningful piece even if it is not a value match on paper.

I don't think we would be able to pry Misa or Hagens (not sure I would really want Hagens)

The team that drafts Misa is going to be so lucky. He would be first overall in most years.
It is rather tragic if you look at all the drafts since we drafted 1st overall and picked up Slafkovsky. 2023 Bedard, 2024 Celebrini, 2025 Schaefer/Misa, 2026 McKenna, 2027 DuPont. Every one of these players would easily be the most talented player we've had for 30+ years. Had we not lucked out on both Hutson & Demidov this rebuild of ours would easily be looking just as awful as Detroit's infamous Yzerplan
