Daniel Briere will draft Caleb Desnoyers if available.
He’s the one player I want the Habs to try and get if possible, I wouldn’t to overpay though. Even though I’m American, I want this team to have a very good player from the Quebec area as they contend in the future. It feels like it should be mandatory lol.

Yeah. We drafted Chipchura in 2004 and he tore his achilles the next year, that affected his whole career.
Brady Vail up better DY numbers than Chipchura, he was never going to be much anyway (but he'll always have the Ovi highlight).

Bear is a dog, I'm sure he'll be back better than ever.

Yeah Chipchura never had offense, but the injury hurt his already mediocre skating ability.

I'm perfectly fine trading both 1sts this year if we can get some big roster improvements.

But bear is ten times the player chipchura was.
Chipchura was a potential top 5-10 pick before his draft year. I don't think that's remotely true. His draft season lagged a little because he played on a shit team. He was supposed to be the best center available after Malkin. None of his team mates, even goalies, made a full-time NHL roster. Not even one.

Bear is floating in the 15-18 range even before this news; though some were extremely bullish on him. There's not really a big difference in pre-draft hype.

Either you guys weren't following prospects back then or you're trying to compare 2024 numbers to 2004 numbers like there's any merit to it. Like the NHL, CHL scoring is massively up in the past few years. Chipchura was expected to become essentially what Patrice Bergeron became.

I wish Carter Bear a speedy recovery. A lot has changed since Chipchura had his achilles injury as far as surgical advancements. I'm sure our scouts/doctors will monitor his recovery and hopefully make an informed decision. He'd make a great addition to the prospect pool if they opted to take him.

Chipchura was not a good skater prior to the injury and was never projected to be a high end offensive player. He was a two way, heart and soul leader before the injury and the mythology of him having this enormous offensive potential is irritating to have to tolerate.

I liked Chipchura as a prospect but never believed that he was going to be an offensive force.

Is this a bad year for Euro's?

There seems to be less than usual... or at least NA media is slower than usual to notice them. I know there are usually a few that start to pop after the U-18's

I'm liking the top 15-20... I imagine it will fill in nicely. We should be able to add some very nice prospects with our 1st 4 picks.
