Well if Schaefer is as good on the right side, that would be perfect but we know that's not the case for Guhle and Hutson struggled alot on the right side for the small sample size we've seen. Playing 1 of the 3 on the right is not optimal and playing the 3 of them on the left side isn't either. All that while having a big holes at 2C and RHD.
Schaefer needs another year in the CHL. By the time he comes up, he can be on the 3rd pairing as a rookie. Hutson with Reinbacher and Guhle with Carrier. If you’re forced to make a move, it would be in 3 seasons, not now.

Oh yeah, we can fall quickly. We're 10th, but tied with 3 other teams. A tumble to #7 could happen rather quickly. Anaheim in 6th is one point back.

Getting into bottom 5 will be a bit tougher.
If we trade Armia and Evans, our PK will be another part of the game where we're abysmal. And since we are one of the most undisciplined team in the league, it will hurt us alot.

I know other bottom feeders will sell at the deadline but i think it will impact us really really bad.

Shout Out to WTK for a ‘24 pick.

Ethan Procyszyn, C, North Bay

If I recall, he was a player you pointed to for the 2nd or 3rd round.

He’s having a great season and is North Bay’s most important forward.

When you posted about him months ago, I thought, ‘yeah, why not?’

A 6’3, 190 centre now looking like he’ll make it, as at least a 3rd C.

52 GP 29-23-52

And who took him at pick 68?

The hawk-eyed Anaheim Ducks.

Good call there, WTK. 👍🏻

I actually had him lower than he went, at 92.. but I very much liked the player and wanted to target him. We didn't have the picks after we moved up for Hage, so c'est la vie. Great player, lotta jam.

Miss him by 2 pick

A couple of gem where drafted right before Koivu who doesn’t seem very interesting

If we pick 6th, assuming the top 5 is some order of Schaefer-Misa-Hagens-Martone-Frondell,

Who's our pick?

Desnoyers? Mrtka? O'Brien? Smith? McQueen? Eklund?

Eklund is definitely my favorite amongst these. I project him as a second line, play driving winger....which is arguably the last thing the Habs require long term at this point.

I'd assume Desnoyers would be the guy the Habs jump on.

Desnoyers 100% lol. The top 6 is pretty much set in place. A 2 way center and also speak french? Do you really need to ask for more?
I'm 100% Schaefer and Misa are 1 and 2.

We need a stud #1D way more than a #2C, Schaefer is the easy pick. Don't care about handedness, figure it out later.
You do know that any center drafted in the top 6 would one day become our #1 center right? Suzuki is going to be 26 years next year. A player like Misa or Hagens would become our #1 center in 2-4 years max.

You run at the podium and you say:

Le Canadiens est fière de selecter des Wildcats de Moncton Caleb Desnoyers
Nahhh you have to bring back Celine Dion for the 2025 draft!

No I don’t and neither do you. None of the centers are in the Celebrini category. Contrary to what many here think, there aren’t many centers better than Suzuki in the NHL.

Let’s put it this way, there are a ton of better dmen than Guhle in the NHL but not a ton of better centers than Suzuki. So why are we passing up on a clear cut upgrade at a weaker position and probably the best player in the draft for someone who likely won’t overtake Suzuki but would rather complement him?

I really don't see the attraction for Desnoyer. I'm sure management has done their homework and if they choose Desnoyer I'll be ok with it but there must be something better available. A top ten pick should be something better (or potentially better ) than him. Hey I haven't seen that much of him and could be out for lunch.

You want winners. You want players that would run through a wall for the team and country. You pick Caleb Desnoyers. Proven winner so far at every level.

Nope. Any of Misa or Hagens have the potential to end up being better than Suzuki in 3-4 years. What do you expect out of Suzuki? He can't stay in his prime forever. He will be 26 years old next year. Why use Ghule? Huston is slowly becoming our #1. We also have Reinbacher as a prospect top 4 D.

This is why i say 3-4 years. Suzuki will start declining in 4-5 years. Someone like Misa would end up being our #1 center in 3 years. You won't find a prospect of Celebrini tier. But this year has a solid top 5.
Also you need to win the lottery to draft Schaefer... When did suggest taking a forward at #1ov? I'm more talking about center in this draft : Misa, Hagens, Frondell or Desnoyer having the potential of becoming our #1 center in 3-4 years. After Schaefer, is pretty much weak year for Defenseman.
