Schmidt is really small tho
This guy is fast and elusive like Caufield and Hutson and can score goals.
Also is hockey IQ is one of the best in this year draft.
I would draft him around #22
Schmidt is really small tho
BearCould you rank these players, starting from your favorite:
- Cameron Schmidt
- Lynden Lakovic
- Carter Bear
- Ivan Ryabkin
- Jake O'Brien
- Kashawn Aitcheson
- Braeden Cootes
Thanks![]()
First two sure. O'Brien is a smaller, softer Dach and Martin doesn't do anything for me. There'll be many better options than both.If we end up with one of Bear, Spence, O’Brien or Martin, we’re good.
Justin Carbonneau is not bad at all. Quite big RW with a hell of a shot.If we end up with one of Bear, Spence, O’Brien or Martin, we’re good.
I actually forgot to name him but I agree with you. He could be a great pick.Justin Carbonneau is not bad at all. Quite big RW with a hell of a shot.
Vaclav nestrasil it will be
I'm all for taking him with our 1st 2nd rounder. Just don't know if he will still be on board.Another name that I don't see mentioned is Blake Fiddler. I like his mobility and physicality for a guy his size. He won't be a top pairing but maybe develop into a similar player as Brandon Carlo.

I've been keeping an eye on him for a while. Still super raw at this point and he needs a lot of work on some aspects, but he has Protas type potential.
That would be an injection of size and skating too, which is never a bad thing. These are the types of guys I think they might target with their 2nd round picks.
Would expect if our picks hold where they are, that they'll target the Mrtka and Spence's of the world. Guys who have defined roles and enough skill to raise the floor of the team.
Yeah. Carbonneau would also be a great selection. That would be an injection of size and skating too, which is never a bad thing.

Sportsnet's 2025 NHL Draft Rankings: January Edition
For the first time on his list this season, Sam Cosentino has someone unseating James Hagens at No. 1. But at least four players are making a case for the top spot, while a few other players crack the top 32 for the first time.www.sportsnet.ca
Cosentino's lastest ranking. The top 20 is pretty much the same as Bobby Mac's, just reshuffled a little.
I've been keeping an eye on him for a while. Still super raw at this point and he needs a lot of work on some aspects, but he has Protas type potential. He'll need time though, like Protas did. The CHL then NCAA route could be a solid option.
Maybe I am underrating this year draft class but it seems that outside the top 4, most top prospects are projected to become middle of the lineup players or bottom 6. I do not say that as bad thing, it just seem like some important players will be drafted but not in the higher end of potential or talent. Is this accurate?
