@Juxtaposer Talking about RHD's, would you take Fiddler with Dallas' first if he's still on the board? I saw @coooldude and you not seeing first round potential just yet earlier this year. Doesn't look like there's much talk about him lately, but many of the public lists do seem to have him around #20: RD Blake Fiddler - Edmonton Oil Kings, WHL (2025 Draft)

And have you seen Bedkowski at all? Not a lot of public reports to find, but EP had him at #41 and McKenzie has him at 56 so there must be some interest given he's a 6'5 RHD. Sounds like another good option in the 2nd: RD David Bedkowski - Oshawa Generals, OHL (2025 Draft)

Another option could be Peyton Kettles. #45 McKenzie, #51 EPI: RHD Peyton Kettles - Swift Current Broncos, WHL (2025 Draft)
And if we don't end up getting Schaefer, maybe LHD could be back on the menu:
  • Cameron Reid [5'12 though :/ ]
  • Sascha Boumedienne (might be two similar a profile to Sahlin Wallenius?)
  • Haoxi "Simon" Wang

I would definitely take Fiddler if he were available at the Dallas pick. His stats aren't great but frankly they don't need to be. He's a 6'4" defensive RHD with a July birthday. He handles the puck well enough to partner with someone like Dickinson or Schaefer or Mukhamadullin. I'd sprint to the podium to get him at the Dallas pick personally.

Haven't seen Bedkowski or Kettles, sorry. Not huge on Boumedienne, but early 2nd is probably the right range for him. Wang is a huge upside shot but not one I have much interest in. I like Reid a lot; I get the arguments against him (size, no clear niche), but something about him feels like an NHLer. IMO he should go mid-late 1st, but maybe not to us.

At the risk of derailing this thread again, I'll submit to you: Jim Vandermeer.

Think Jux is saying they’re playing well without their best players being at there best…
No, I'm saying it's great when they win (helping our draft position) while their young players do nothing (we benefit from their young players not developing as well because we want our young players to be better than theirs).

As bad as the loss felt yesterday, I would rather lose a close competitive game while all our young players play well and pick up points than win as the Hawks did yesterday but it's driven by guys who are not going to be a part of the next good Hawks teams.

Personally I think they’re a bunch of jabronis over there. Grier had a worse situation to inherit and has done more with less.
