Any chance he lasts till Dallas’s first we are apparently getting (around 25 at best)
Personally I don't think so, but I'm high on Spence relative to some folks (Pronman didn't have him in his top-24, for example). I think Spence goes in the mid-teens.

Having a late-1st is great though, since we may be able to trade up to land that RHD like Hensler or Fiddler.

Or, as we've discussed... Amico, without moving up.

I'm feeling like Amico will be available at #33.

Actually, the way things are going, Hensler could last until #26. Landing both would be pretty sweet.
Looking at it more / this way, high likelihood Grier tries to package #33 and DAL 1st to someone to move into the mid-teens and target the guy he likes. Maybe we're lucky and Mrtka falls, or it's Aitcheson or something. Or, as you and others have speculated, using one/both of the picks in a package for an older prospect like Nemec or whoever.

Those are I think the best options. I wouldn't be surprised if both the Dallas 1st and our 2nd get moved for D help. But I do think there are quite a few interesting guys in the late-teens and early 20's.

Well, it looks like we just lost our top scorer and top RD in a trade involving no roster players coming back, so... feels like we've got that 3OA spot locked up.

MATTHEW SCHAEFER! WE COMIN FOR YOU

For whatever reason was looking at the Oilers draft history. Interesting that two 1OVR are not part of the team (Hall and Yakupov). McDavid was obviously great but the next best players drafted (Drai and Bouchard) are not 1OVR picks. Maybe you could argue Nugent-Hopkins over Bouchard

I know we all hope for Schaefer and McKenna and Dupont but we are probably fine with some 3-10 picks and team improvement rather than sticking in the basement forever

He is probably outside the range of the Dallas pick but braedon cootes is a guy this draft that I would love for the sharks to pick up. Haoxi Wang could also be a fun target at the end of the first.

We will be fine as long as we draft good players and make shrewd acquisitions.

However, we are far, far too far away to be good or even mediocre next year. We will continue to be a basement dweller unless several miracles happen - we just need too much.

Cootes is a great call. I really do like him in the teens. Maybe he slides to the 20's because he's on such a low-scoring team that his stats don't jump off the page.

The late 1st is going to be interesting.

The top 3 RD Mrkta, Hensler and Fiddler are likely to be gone when the Sharks 2nd 1st round pick comes into play.

Top Rd after that are Trethewey (Early 2nd), D'Amico (Mid 2nd), Brzustewicz (mid 2nd), Huang (mid-Late 2nd), Radivojevic (Late 1st - 2nd).

LW: Bill Zonnon 6'2 LW
C: Jack Nesbitt 6'4 C (one of the fastest players in the draft), William Moore C 6'2
RW: Benjamin Kindle 5'10
F: Cole Reschny 5'10, Jacob Ihs-Wizniak 6'3

So I’m listening to SJHN podcast and Keegan mentioned trading up with Dallas’s pick. I believe he meant like DAL 1st and SJ 2nd to move up but it got me thinking. If we end up with 3rd overall, would you do SJ 1st and DAL 1st for 1st overall? Would the 1st overall team do that? Would we need to add SJ’s 2nd too? I think I’d do all three picks for Schaefer. Definitely an overpayment but I think Schaefer is worth it.

Yes
Would the 1st overall team do that?
I don't think so.

Even if we did, in an avg/weak draft, I think you pick 1OA and don't look back.

Yes, I think I'd do that too, but that's why it's not likely, because you're asking a team to take the other end of that.

I mean I think the other thing is though that the other team is still getting a potentially A prospect in Misa, Hagens, or Martone and then two other shots. I agree though very unlikely not just in terms of value but also we don’t see that type of deal in the NHL.

Obviously we are not going to win the lottery as we really need the dman but that next group of forwards looks really solid. Does Misa play no defense? I'm blown away by a draft year forward scoring at that rate. Martone is no slouch either and it looks like he's a captain on his team?

I think I'd trade our draft for Schaefer but then again I'm the reckless type. Just get the impression this draft meh anyway so why not go out and get what we need.
