Any chance he lasts till Dallas’s first we are apparently getting (around 25 at best)
Personally I don't think so, but I'm high on Spence relative to some folks (Pronman didn't have him in his top-24, for example). I think Spence goes in the mid-teens.

Having a late-1st is great though, since we may be able to trade up to land that RHD like Hensler or Fiddler.

Or, as we've discussed... Amico, without moving up.

I'm feeling like Amico will be available at #33.

Actually, the way things are going, Hensler could last until #26. Landing both would be pretty sweet.
Looking at it more / this way, high likelihood Grier tries to package #33 and DAL 1st to someone to move into the mid-teens and target the guy he likes. Maybe we're lucky and Mrtka falls, or it's Aitcheson or something. Or, as you and others have speculated, using one/both of the picks in a package for an older prospect like Nemec or whoever.

Those are I think the best options. I wouldn't be surprised if both the Dallas 1st and our 2nd get moved for D help. But I do think there are quite a few interesting guys in the late-teens and early 20's.

Well, it looks like we just lost our top scorer and top RD in a trade involving no roster players coming back, so... feels like we've got that 3OA spot locked up.

MATTHEW SCHAEFER! WE COMIN FOR YOU

For whatever reason was looking at the Oilers draft history. Interesting that two 1OVR are not part of the team (Hall and Yakupov). McDavid was obviously great but the next best players drafted (Drai and Bouchard) are not 1OVR picks. Maybe you could argue Nugent-Hopkins over Bouchard

I know we all hope for Schaefer and McKenna and Dupont but we are probably fine with some 3-10 picks and team improvement rather than sticking in the basement forever

He is probably outside the range of the Dallas pick but braedon cootes is a guy this draft that I would love for the sharks to pick up. Haoxi Wang could also be a fun target at the end of the first.

We will be fine as long as we draft good players and make shrewd acquisitions.

However, we are far, far too far away to be good or even mediocre next year. We will continue to be a basement dweller unless several miracles happen - we just need too much.

Cootes is a great call. I really do like him in the teens. Maybe he slides to the 20's because he's on such a low-scoring team that his stats don't jump off the page.
