Yep I feel the real contenders we will be battling for the 32/31 spot to guarantee a top 4 pick will be Chicago, Montreal (hopefully when Laine returns they will rise), maybe Columbus/Philly. But if Granlund does get traded, I think that would pretty much guarantee we get that top 4 pick at minimum.

That’s the thing. If we lose Granlund, I think the team will collapse on itself like a black hole. Unless Celebrini cements himself as a 1C by the deadline and Smith becomes a passable 2/3C by then, we’d be pretty certain to pick top 3.

So it's really interesting that Sens fans are finally turning on Brady Tkachuk for constantly cheating for offense, having zero defensive conscience, and overall not playing winning hockey. I've never really cared for him, especially compared to his brother whom I think extremely highly of.

I kinda worry that Martone is that kind of player. I can't shake the Brady Tkachuk comparison.

I'm a little leery of Martone at this point, with the caveat I haven't seen a ton of him. I'd have him 4th out of the top 4. But that aspect of his game is hard to judge, because I don't know to what extent he's getting coached to basically "cheat for offense." It will be useful to see him play at junior worlds where he almost certainly will not be getting instructed to cheat.

Yeah, I really hope he makes the WJC team so we can see him in a different role and environment. The CHL is not a league wildly concerned with defense.

Who do you think contributing the most to the Sharks' wins/points so far this season? Granlund? Toffoli? Celebrini? I say it's Granlund. I say we put Granlund in as goalie for the rest of the season or until he's traded. What say you?

I'm very superstitious so I think that I am the one who's contributing most to our success this season. Last season was the first season that I ever gave up watching the Sharks, around Game 28 or so and lo and behold, First overall pick. This season, I'm here and I'm present. I know I know you think it's ridiculous for thinking it's all me me me. But I don't suppose you think you're the reason for our success, right? That would be even more laughable. :sarcasm:

Well, we were struggling pretty badly until Celebrini got healthy, so even though I would say that many players have performed well since he got back, I think he probably deserves the most credit.

But I'm willing to give you the second most credit.

They actually stopped struggling just before Celebrini got back. I think they had won 3 in a row before he returned.

I'm not trying to discredit Celebrini, but while he's the best player, he isn't carrying this team all alone.

My hope is that Celebrini is the type of leader who others love playing with and he won't allow any of them, at least his more youthful peers, to be passengers on his team.
