He will likely be a day 2 pick. So a bit surprised that he’s not opting to transfer to another program. Hard to know what numbers for NIL to believe. If he’s getting $3 mill plus id think that would be better for him to transfer.

Teams can move off non first round QBs quick, especially if there is a coaching change.
Somebody is telling him he’s a first round pick and with Allar and Beck staying, it makes it more likely because teams will take quarterbacks more than any other position because they think they’re supposed to

Yeah and if it's close you take him late 1st for the extra year

I’d have to imagine you are right that someone is telling him he’s a first round guy in this class. But it’s interesting to try and gauge where that might be. If Ward/Sanders go in the first 4 picks, it seems wild to think any other QB needy team in the top 10 would use a pick that high on Ewers.

Almost have to think his best shot is with a team like the Rams that has a vet QB he can sit behind with 0 expectations for a year or two and go from there. But again, not sure what the Rams’ appetite for using a first on a developmental QB will be. Aside from the Rams, it’s impossible to imagine any team after the Steelers at 21 using a pick on Ewers. At that point you’re hoping for a team to trade back into the late first.

He was promised to be a first rounder by a certain team last year that will be picking late in the first round that has a DFW QB late in his career at QB

Could refer to Hunter, I guess. But he's not really a generational CB or WR talent, as much as he's a generational football talent for his ability to play both sides of the ball. I'm not convinced he's CB1 or WR1 in this draft.

Yeah, I thought of Hunter also, and he might be a very good player, even special, but I think generational might be a bit of a stretch. I know Sanders and Ward have their warts, but I have a hard time imagining the team running it back with Levis

Special is probably a better descriptor, yeah.

I can't imagine bringing back Levis either. He wasn't just bad. He was actively losing them games with his inane turnovers. Super fun to watch though, so I hope someone plays him next season.

In the nfl, logically Hunter is a CB. And gets a package of WR plays. Only a limited number of reps with the QB1 if he’s a CB. Even if he wanted to split reps and snaps evenly, that is still a boatload of film he’d need to study each week on both sides.

Totally agree. I don't understand why people think Hunter is generational. There is no way he will be playing both ways on a game by game basis.

I do think he is a shutdown CB. And then at certain times he could come in and play WR when they need points going into a half or at the end of a game.

If all that was needed was for him to go out and play he could do it. But the bigger issue is the practice and film study. Need timing with QB1. And film study is going to make him better at his position. Studying the WR he has to cover plus QB he’s going against them study defenses of his opponents as well? Guy won’t have a life. Need a break from football during the week.

To clarify, when I call him generational, I mean it's literally because we haven't seen anyone who can do what he can in a generation+. I don't think he's a generational talent at CB or at WR, which is much more important for his draft value, of course.

As @StreetHawk is saying, even if he could handle the physical grind of playing both positions in the NFL, which is very much doubt, there is no way he can actually handle learning both playbooks well enough. Then the question is how much value there is in a really good CB (but probably not the best in the draft) who can also be a gadget player on offense a few snaps per game.

IMO, I bet there are, and have been many many players capable of doing what he did in college over the past 20 years. It's just that they didn't play for a coach who wants to promote two-way play.

I think that's really underselling what he did this year. We're going to have to agree to disagree.

It is a deep rb class. Also likely means not many go round 1 but expect a lot to go on day 2
Could see something like the 2023 draft. One or two 1st rounders, then a bit of a lull with maybe one or two RBs picked, and then a run of 4-5 RBs in like 20 picks. I think Gibbs is probably better than RB2 this season, and I think the run of RBs in tier 2 might come a bit earlier than in 2023 (where Charbonnet was drafted in the 2nd round, but the real run of RBs came in round 3).

Definitely a good year for your team to need an RB and have a pick in late round 2 or early round 3, I'd expect. Could get a really good RB there.

A team would have options. If you are looking for a bell cow type (AP, Henry, who are more pure runners and limited pass catchers) or duo threat who are more in the Kamara, CMC, Cook, type of back. Whatever fits your scheme better.

I think he's getting some bad advice. Henderson will be gone so he could be the featured back for a top team and increase his stock going into the 2026 draft. Gotta think NIL money would be more than whatever a day 2 pick signs, and that's if you're not cut.

Every season a RB spends getting 250 plus touches will eat into their career.

Looking at rb pay scale middle of the pack like Sandwrs, Swift who left Philly got like $6 mill AAV as free agents. Very few will get $15 mill AAV post rookie deal.

But if the draft is deep at rb it also means free agency will be deep in 2029.
