I mean they've tried almost every option at QB. Former first round pick reclamation project? Check. Veteran cast off with a chip on his shoulder? Check.

They haven't tanked for a potential franchise QB and likely shudder at the thought of doing so, so may as well attempt to trade for a good young QB. Not that it'll go anywhere, but doesn't hurt to ask.

Over the cap is showing a $100 mill dead cap if Trevor is dealt which doesn’t make sense. He got a big SB for 2024 of under $40 mill but the big money he’s due is in option bonuses which if traded the new team would be responsible for.

But basically no way Jax would trade him.

All he had to do was not go in Pat McCafee show but he said, now I’m out
Attention Whore Gonna Attention Whore.
He was due like $37 mill in 2025. I don't see him getting that much as a free agent. But, he's made plenty of money that the extra $15 mill or whatever won't impact him. He could even retire if he wanted.
If he retires, people will talk about him less and he'll get less attention.

Once a diva, always a diva.

They should check with KC to see if they are looking to move on from Mahomes, he looked like trash the last game I saw him in

Well what the hell does that mean? The horses mouth would suggest it’s either Shad Khan, the new GM or Coach, or Lawrence himself.

Could actually see that working for the Steelers though.

It was Interim GM Christopher Daniels, but it turned out he is not officially allowed to handle such discussions, so everyone is denying it now

Working in what sense? I don't trust the Steelers to turn a struggling QB into a stud. Reid, McVey or O'Connell? Sure. Tomlin? Not so much

Doesn’t have to be a stud but it’s not difficult to see him be better than what they’ve had and the risk/reward would be in their favor

Zero chance the Jags trade Lawrence before seeing what Coen can do with him.

Plus his cap number is very reasonable for a starting QB through 2028. This whole report is a nothing burger.
New GM and coach almost always means new quarterbacks. It depends on if they actually still want him.

Agreed.

Putting aside the fact that there's no ready solution for them if they trade Lawrence, they realistically can't afford to do so given that the resulting dead cap would be ludicrous.

I get the TLaw doubt. He was the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck and he hasn't developed as expected, and that is on both him and that abortion of an organization he plays for. But they have to see if they can develop him because they've hitched their wagon to him at this point. His biggest problem is his lack of consistency. Let's see what Coen can get out of him.

Feels like Jax at pick 5 will go Defence. I don't think either the OL or WR ranked #1 at their position are likely to be as good at the pro level as the defenders. If they can, should look to move up from Rd 2 if there is a chance to land one of the 2 top TE (Warren/Loveland) in the early 20's to give Lawrence another target.

To be honest, the Jaguars have holes almost everywhere so BPA isn't necessarily a bad thing for them.

They need to be active in FA as well.

While correct, this is a differenct case that most. He's only 25; 26 in October.
Not sure why over the cap has Lawrence at a $100 mill dead cap if traded. From what I can see he was given $37.5 mill in a SB in 2024 on his new deal, leaving $30 mill left to hit the cap. He is also due $35 mill per year over the next 3 years in option bonuses. 2028 option bonus becomes guaranteed in 2027.

Logically, if he were to be moved, Jax would be better served doing it before the new league year when his 2025 option bonus is due, thus would have to eat $30 mill of the remaining SB dead cap. But, don't see that happening, not with this draft class of QB and having the 5th pick.
