Post-Game Talk: 2025? More like 2020-five past Igor

Mika is so inexplicably bad right now.
Has there ever been a more unlikeable Rangers team than what we are witnessing now?
Actually, historically, this is the most disappointing season for a nhl team in the modern era. To go from presidents trophy winners and game 6 of the conference finals to a complete dumpster fire with everyone regressing is legitimate nightmare fuel. It is the inverse or playing with house money; it is like betting with your children's college fund and immediately going into debt. There is hardly anything good to look forward to and nothing is working and to make things worse it's the type of collapse that will be studied for years to come.

I havent watched much lately, but is Borgen really this bad? He`s at the bottom of theese charts every game.

From what I've seen so far he plays it safe, even shy at times. New team stuff I guess.

He's an offensive black hole, that's for sure. He can keep the puck in in the offensive zone, but he wont get it on net.

It was mentioned in the game before today's that he had said it was taking him a while to adjust to the NYR defensive scheme (such as there is) because it was very different to what he was used to. Not sure whether that's cover for what's perceived as a lacklustre trade, a sad comment on Housley/Lavi's scheme, or both

A lot of people wait to see the charts after the game to tell them what to think. Borgen is a fine bottom pair D who isnt playing as physical as he usually does, because no one plays physical on this defense. The clear, far and away issues are Miller and Lindgren.

As far as running Zibs out at the end, I think that's coming from above. What other option do they have with the guy than to hope something sparks his return to at least mediocrity. I think Lav has no choice.

If you play for Laviolette as a young guy you know that there is no amount of good play that can raise your playing time or get you out there when it counts. You also know there is no amount of bad play that can take veterans down. How unmotivating. That’s not coaching.

Fire Laviolette.

No Chytil or Cuylle at the end of that game, but Meeka comes gliding onto the ice to f*** up not once, but twice. Should be the final straw for Laviolette, who I dont even blame for this mess. But such is life.

I still can’t believe Laviolette sent Mika out at the end instead of Chytil. Just a baffling decision, but one we see constantly from this organization. Give the kid a chance to tie it. He earned that right.
Zibanejad is a vet who knows how to win. Chytil is just a fast skater that's tougher to get the puck from. A player who can cycle, create plays with better hands, and get pucks on net. There is not a single coach that would.... Nevermind.

The worst part of this game was that you didn't need elite goaltending to win. You just needed a goalie who can make a save.
This should have been a one of those games where you win 3-2 or 2-1.

Outside of Miller and Meeka's nuclear turnovers that led directly to 3 goals, i thought they defended as well as they've had in weeks. Igor was horrendous. He deserves to be dunked on, but also clearly he has no confidence playing in front of this team. Overcommitting everywhere.

One of those games where fans tell you this is why you don't need to pay for elite goaltending because you can win with just good goaltending. Yet, here's the elite goaltender blowing it... Pushing 60% against Florida is something the team should be proud of, collectively. A few dumb mistakes were bound to happen because we still have players like Miller and Zibanejad, but this is on Igor.

Hit to Igor? Dumbass Lindgren plowed into him knocking him over our goalie. It’s all on Lindgren

Lindgren learned from Trouba in that doing something stupid is the way to go as long as it looks cool. Same reason Lindy broke his jaw getting tuned up by Mayfield after a clean hit in the preseason.

Looks like it was another NHL Network game that this out-of-market fan couldn't watch again, but it sounds like it was the same BS again so I didn't miss anything. 🤷‍♂️

Can we just shoot Mika to the moon or something? And send Miller with him?

The 2002-03 Carolina Hurricanes are probably the poster children for an inexplicable collapse.

Cup Finalists the prior season, 22 wins the next, and they had 10 at Thanksgiving.

That team invented ways not to score. Then injuries, dumb trades, players cratering.

Weekes was their starting goaltender. He had a save percentage over .900, and 5 shutouts.

What they got out of that lost season was Eric Staal, and a crappy 2003-04. Then came the lockout, and a shock Cup in 2006.

Guess it was one of those random games that someone out of market with DirecTV and Center Ice could watch the MSG feed, even though it was on NHL Network but not on ESPN+.

Best outcome possible. We played hard, some players looked better and we lost.

Its key for Kreider to not looked washed so Drury hopefully trades him at deadline for a good return.

2 more years on his contrsct is a blessing and a curse. If he looks washed it could actually hurt his value, but if he regains form it could help as the team has 3 playoff runs with him for a decent price

If Kreider needs some kind of surgery on his back like Staple seems to be claiming, put him on LTIR today and let him have it. Otherwise, it needs to not be mentioned again because it's more excuse making for a team that absolutely loves to make excuses.

Miller either can't read the game fast enough or can't skate (pivot) well enough, and as a result is always a step late when defending the rush, and guys can get around him.
It's not just the rush tho... he been abysmal around the net also.

He's always been lanky but it seems like he can no longer control that lankiness the way he (sort of) used to.

He's not able to get his legs under him as well & he almost becomes immobile.

Is it possible he doesn't have the hockey smarts required to play good D?

That game isn't on Mika or Miller. It's on Igor. Mistakes happen, for players and goalie, but our goalie made no big saves when they were needed. Bob did.

I'm not absolving some of their play, especially Z just constantly fumbling the puck, but we are at a point where people are acting like turnovers aren't a part of the game. If your goalie thinks he's the best, and demands to be paid as such, anything less is unacceptable.

I don't know, Miller's continuing unwillingness to even bump a guy to slow him down is criminal.

Missed this. What surgery what article?
