The Pirates have known that they'd be without their starting 1B for the start of the season for months, so naturally their opening day starter at the position played 5 whole innings there in Spring Training. They lucked into Skenes with almost zero understanding that he would basically ignore the Minors and almost no chance to sign him to a long-term deal. So I have zero belief that they know what their lineup is from day to day.
