Yeah I brought this up a bit ago. He loves the Dominican neighborhoods around Yankee Stadium and made a lot of friends there. The Yankees are the choice unless the Mets blow him away. Who would not want to hit in front of Aaron Judge? The Sox and Jays were brought in to raise the Yankees price from 550mil to over 600mil because they don't care if he goes to the Mets for a lot more money. Fried to the Yankees as well IMO with Burnes and Adames going to the Mets after they lose Soto. Alonso to the Cubs or Mariners.

This stuff is starting to annoy me. All these "reporters" acting like they know stuff other than just making things up.

We and nobody else has legit sources, because they don't exist. So the only option left is common sense. And it says that as of today and yesterday and the day before, that Soto was always going to stay with New York. Not the pretending loser Mets, the Yankees. Aka the most prestigious franchise in the US. A franchise that won't let a generational player get away over 50m dollars. A superstar like Soto has to play in the biggest spotlights: Yankees / Dodgers. Not some tier 2-3 franchise like the Red Sox who handled their business like a small to mid market team for the last 5 years while printing money over the "Fenway experience".

The biggest ploy in all of this is: The FSG know that they actually won't get Soto. Offering 600m does make them look good, but it doesn't actually cost them a dime. The same goes for Toronto. It's just flexing their muscles. The same happened last year with Yamamoto. They allegedly offered 300m, but somehow over the rest of the winter didn't bother signing another pitcher in that realm (other than Giolito from the bargain bin). Snell and Montgomery were available, even on short term deals.

I'd honestly be stunned if Soto doesn't sign with the highest bidder. That's how 99% of Boras clients work. He may have a preference for the Yankees, but I don't think he'd have any qualms moving across town if Cohen offers him a few extra Benjamins.

Good i would jump off the sagamore if they gave him a big contract while giving up a pick to get him after not signing him last season, especially now that he will be 33 at the end of next year

In all seriousness, one of my concerns about signing Soto is his decline as a defensive outfielder, and the thought that 4-5 years down the line, you'd be paying two guys who should be full-time DHs a combined $80 million/year with no choice but to play at least one of them in the field every day.

I wouldn't be thrilled about loading the roster with more DH types, even if they're right-handed.

I said this how long ago? He is going back to the Yankees to match the Mets offer. He will prob stay there whether they do or not.
