Hell baby
The thing that annoys me the most. If this were the Dodgers and they had a choice between Aroldis at a cheaper amount or Scott for more, theyd go Scott. Scott would provide the same as Aroldis and longer term without the baggage.
don’t think the Julio Urias team has the moral high ground on this issue you think they have

Remember they only cut bait with him after the *2nd* DV incident, which iirc happened in public so they didn’t have much of a choice

Listen, I'd rather win with assholes than have to watch good citizens have Kyle Barraclough experiences out there. It's hard to look past the fact that this guy choke slammed his wife against a wall then pulled out a gun and indiscriminately shot up his garage to scare her.

Im not talking about moral high ground, talking money. No sports team in the world cares about an athletes past. Why go cheap WITH the added baggage? Just feels like Sox went with the cheaper option when they're selling a “win now mentality” to the base.

I’ve convinced myself you only make this signing if you know you have a Soto signing coming afterwards to distract

I see what you’re saying but id also say Chapman is a “win now” kind of player, he’s not really all that different from Tanner Scott on the field and he actually has experience playing in a similarly rabid market

I just hope they ran it by Boras and that Soto doesn't have the opposite reaction of not wanting to play with a wife beater.

f***ing vile signing. Vile. Ugh.
What is Loretta Lynch doing these days?

I have also convinced myself the Mets only signed Frankie Montas because he and Juan were childhood friends in the DR

If they're smart they don't. Chapman tends to implode in higher leverage situations these days.

But I don't think you're paying 10 million for just a normal middle innings reliever/setup man

What if all of this is just an elaborate psychology experiment? Pretend to want to sign expensive players, sign unlikeable players, and generally care and spend as little as possible to see how far you can go before it significantly impacts profitability.

I'm still taking time away from this forum but I had to come on here and say absolutely f***ing NOT to this Chapman signing.

If that's the case, go sign Bauer immediately.

Ridiculous signing. Chapman is a disgusting human and it's embarrassing he's on the Red Sox.
Hey, if we lose out on Soto I'm up for them going Full Raiders for backup plan and bringing in Chapman, Bauer, and Urias and setting themselves up as the new top heels in the biz.

From a baseball perspective it’s a no-brainer, him and Tanner Scott are basically the same guy at this point and Scott is gonna get like 4/60. They needed a lefty reliever and they got one of the better ones they could have gotten

It’s on a human level that this move sucks. But I guess we still celebrate Manny in these parts so 🤷‍♂️…if he helps on the field everything will be overlooked by most
Good signing - worth a shot.

Times have changed - many people don’t care unless they are directly involved.

Hopefully he still got something left

I have not looked at numbers of him in Pittsburgh but having saw lots of him in the past I would imagine it's still all about control .He has that he will be a big help.
