Impressive pitching development program? How many high end pitchers have the Red Sox developed in the last 10 years? If we had such an amazing pitching development program we wouldn't need to trade for top of the rotation pitchers and be in on guys like Roki & Burnes.

"Hey Roki, you remember Matsuzaka? Well he played for us 14yrs ago. We also had Uehara & Tazawa on our team about 9 years ago. We even had this guy named Okajima on our team back in 2011."

The only real "selling point" they could make is that the 4 Japanese pitchers mentioned above, all won a world series with the Red Sox.

3/5 of their rotation are homegrown talents and they’ve invested a ton into a pitching development engine this last year or two (basically going full driveline), they aren’t selling him on what happened 10 years ago they’re selling him on what is happening with their pitching development now

I bet he picks the Padres or something personally though. It’s not gonna come down to money since he’s technically an IFA and not an UFA

Correct, their 3,4,5 starters are homegrown talents. Not much to hang your hat on when you're talking about pitching development. Its not like they've develop 1's and 2's recently. Bello was rushed up to the team as a 23yr old (started the season in AA when he made his MLB debut), that's how bad the pitching staff was here. Houck & Crawford both came in as relivers, but again because Boston had no decent arms, they were converted to starters.

I need Sasaki to sign with the Rockies to continue the theme of making terrible decisions. First, he passes up millions by refusing to wait a couple years to come to the MLB. And now he has the opportunity to sign with the team that's the worst park for pitchers.
