New Orleans Saints select Luke Lachey, TE, Iowa

Tight end is another position where the Saints stink, they’ve been trying to make Juwan Johnson for as long as the Philadelphia Flyers have been trying to regain relevancy. It also says here that Iowa is good at developing tight ends despite having hideous offenses.

With the 157th pick the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are ecstatic to select QB Kurtis Rourke, Indiana

Honestly if this draft we're going longer I probably would have stretched this out into the 6th round before taking Rourke, but alas he was the last chance. Rourke can be a nice developmental piece for the Bucs behind Baker-Trask this year and potentially into the primary backup in 2026. He brings very similiar style to the game as Baker Mayfield, very good in play action, can run when needed, good arm strength. However a lingering injury which affected him his entire senior year at Indiana has him as a question mark for training camp and hampered him showing his mobility in 2024 at Indiana. From his time at Ohio State we know he can run. IMO he is the perfect backup for Baker Mayfield and having Trask for one more year gives Rourke a nice redshirt year in 2025 to get healthy and get up to speed on the NFL game.
