2025 Fisu Hockey Torino Italy

After seeing the Canada - USA match, I still can't understand how this Canadian team could not beat the Czech Republic in the group. The Czech Republic had players from the 2nd-3rd league. Likewise, Slovakia has players mainly from the 2nd league, only a few of them have played something in the highest competition. Kazakhstan had a very strong selection of the domestic league. 8 players played at the 2025 U20 World Championship, Nikitin was drafted by Ottawa and Buyalski by Colorado (2021, 3rd round). A few players have experience from the KHL and also from the World Championships in the men´s category.
Ukraine also has several players of the national team, but their level does not reach the strength of Kazakhstan. Anyway, I don't know how the USA will approach the bronze medal match, here Ukraine could have some chances, despite the 1:5 loss against the USA in the group. Canada should dominate in the finals.
The CZE goalie stole that game and CAN goalie got scored on 3 times in the SO while the CZE goalie stopped all 3. None of that matters because CAN is playing for Gold and CZE is not. USA won all 4 of their games including against UKR. I think USA will regroup and have a good game. CAN should win over SVK.

CAN leads 1-0 over SVK on a late 1st period goal with 1 second left. Shots 20-4 for CAN. Strong forecheck keeps SVK hemmed in most of the period. Edmonds in goal for CAN.

CAN scores at the end of a PP and SVK gets 1 back on a PP of their own. SVK with a bit more jump that period. Both goalies called upon to make a few good saves. Shots 29-15. Entertaining game thru 2.

CAN scores an EN goal for the 3-1 win. Bit of a wrestling match between a SVK and CAN player with 2 sec left results in penalties. Very enjoyable game to watch. Both teams played great. Final shots 42-25.

Great job by the USA and SVK refs.

CAN wins B2B for 1st time. Edmonds the goalie in both wins.

UKR wins Bronze over USA with a score of 5-3.

Solid 3-1 win (with empty netter) for Canada. I was only able to watch from the midpoint of the second period. Kai Edmonds with the win in nets. Slovakia's only goal came on the power play (with Kale McCallum in the box).

Gratuitous UNB reference...:)

The 2nd half of the game was "better" than the 1st half.

Looking at the rink brought back memories from 2007.

Congrats to all the players, coaches and staff.

I think the age limit for FISU is 24, but I'm not sure. I didn't say the US should send the NHL picks, I said a team of 22-24 year olds, or even 20-21. But also said that it's great to represent your country and ACHA players will never have the chance unless it's at FISU. Winning isn't everything.
It´s U25 tournament. Players born in 2000-2007 were allowed to play this year. No older, no younger.
