Results today: CAN Women 6-2 over SVK to finish 3-0. Not sure when next game is.

CAN Men came up against a hot goalie again, outshot them 50-14 but were down 1-3 with 1:51 left in 3rd. Pulled the goalie and scored with :54 left. Pulled the goalie at :40 and scored again at :34 to tie the game at 3.
Nothing in OT. CAN scores twice in SO to win 2-1.
Next game is 16 Jan vs SWE. Quarter finals start Jan 19.

Jan. 18 vs the loser of tomorrow's game between Japan and Czechia (both are 2-0 so far).

So, the top 2 in each group move on to the semis and the bottom 2 in each group play their own "semis" on the 17th. The real semis on the 18th and 5-6, 7-8 games on the 19th with Bronze and Gold games on the 20th.

Men's quarter finals on the 19th, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 games on the 20th, semis on the 21st and Bronze and Gold on the 22nd.

Canada playing JPN now, up 1-0. Edmonds in goal, Richard backup.
If they win, and they should, they'll play USA.
USA is composed of players from ACHA. Teams like UNLV, Purdue, Liberty, Arizona and others.
Better than the Club team guys they used to send.

Am I mistaken or did they send a NCAA-3 team last time?

I think so. Prior to that they were Club players. They have a D1, D2 and D3 division in the ACHA. Their roster is D1 players for their conference. Not sure how that stacks with D3 from last time. Too many teams to keep track of. CAN up 5-0 after 1.

Comparsion of canadian "U-sports" team and american "ACHA" team?
I think winner of this semifinal will will whole tournament. Second semi is Slovakia against Ukraine.
 
CAN 9-1 over JPN in 1/4 final. They play USA Tues at 3 pm ADT. SVK plays UKR at 11 am ADT. CAN is the only A pool team with 3 from B pool.
Should be a CAN-SVK Gold medal game Wed at 3 pm ADT.


CAN women play CZE for Gold Mon at 3 pm ADT.

All these games can be seen on FISU TV.

Czechia was 1st in Pool A due to a hot goaltender in their game vs Canada. They ended up on the other side in their game vs Ukraine (shots 38-24 for CZE). This is an upset as UKR only one round-robin game. Expect SVK to win the Semi in a repeat of their round-robin match.

Canada has not lost, to my recollection, to USA when they have been drafted from the ACHA. It might be close for the 1st, but I suspect they will pull away in the 2nd and 3rd (much like the '23 final, but that was a NCAA Div3 team).

Both US Teams, men and women, are from ACHA

CAN women lose to CZE 2-1 in OT. Great game by the CZE goalie, making 51 saves. DAL goalie Grace Beer made 14 saves including 3 breakaways, as CAN was a bit "sloppy" at times.

Fun game to watch. CZE 2nd time at FISU, winning Bronze in 2023. CAN has medaled at every FISU.

Good game by the girls yesterday. Total domination except in the goals category.

Beer is the best goalie in the AUS last night, she's the one doing what the Czech goalie did to Canada last night usually.

Just too bad the referee was a bit too quick with her whistle, as the overtime would have been over with the Canadian goal in the first shift.

Yup, but the ref lost sight of the puck. If that had happened to CAN and she didn't blow it down, people would be upset.
Too bad CAN couldn't score on their many chances in regulation. Give credit to the CZE goalie.

CAN men dominate 1st period with 24 shots to 5, probable another 20 blocked by the US Defense. FO wins 20-3.
CAN had 4 PP and scored on the 4th.
Tied at 1-1 after one.
Edmonds in goal with Richard backing up.
 
USA scores to make it 2-1 in the 2nd and CAN wakes up with 5 goals including a PP and SH.
Shots were 25-2 for CAN.
6-2 after 40.

CAN adds 3 more in the 3rd for a 10-2 win. Shots 64-14.

Good effort by the USA but they were overmatched once CAN got on track.

Gold Medal game Wed vs SVK at 3 pm AST.
