Racing Bull pitwall has cost Tsunoda two P5 this season. Tsunoda himself would be P6. Racing Bulls would be P4.

Ferrari has to deal with decision making. They sacrificed fewer points for no points with Leclerc. Not smart. The Hamilton DQ has to hurt.

Haas looked good out there today, a real surprise.

Doohan is not ready for F1. He and Borteleto look way out of their depth. I realize the cars hurt them, but they are making sizeable decision making mistakes at the back of the grid.

Williams keeps getting points because of unusual circumstances, but Albon seems to have good pace and seems to be able to keep his position once the race gets deep in.

Love seen Lawson under-performing.

That team does seem to be a bit of a Ferrari lite when it comes to strategies. I think it was Gasly who already pointed it out years ago, that in any rain affected race they get it wrong.

As for Ferrari itself... it is quite impressive to have both of your cars disqualified for two separate reasons.

Piastri made it look easy today. He’s grown nicely as a racer. Thr McLarrn car has really come a long way from only two years ago. There was a bit of drama with Norris’s brakes today but it happened too late to matter. Verstappen was able to overtake LeClair there at the end for some excitement. The cars are just so good now.

I just meant it in a figurative sense. If Valteri Bottas was his teammate instead of George for the last 3 years, Hamilton would have had better results.
 
Some people seem to think Liam Lawson didn't deserve the drive. Well, they should have a look at Yuki Tsunoda's rookie season. It was Logan Sergeant level crashing. Tsunoda was a pay driver for his first F1 contract. He came with the Honda engine deal for Red Bull. While Liam Lawsons parents sold their house to fund his racing career.

It is fine to make it either way. But this treading on Lawson is getting a bit over the top.

This kind of shit just shouldn’t be possible. RB, at all. Only 1 team has this advantage and it’s (red) bullshit. I don’t like Lawson at all… or Tsunoda (who deserves that seat) for that matter, but it boils me that there’s a team that has this sort of advantage.

Like Ferrari putting Leclerc in a Sauber and Bearman in a Haas, or Mercedes putting Russell in a Williams?

Probably not as convenient in terms of mid-season changes, but then those occasions involved good drivers and teams knowing what they were doing.

This wouldn't be a discussion if Red Bull actually knew what they were doing here.

Hasn't had to be tested yet since the drivers for those teams were good enough, but IIRC instead of Merc pulling a reserve driver in for a race during the Covid season to replace Hamilton due to illness they were able to pull Russell instead. Presumably from that they would have been able to pull something similar if needed, those teams just didn't need to outside of one-off situations like that.

TBF if the season had started with Lawson on the B team and Yuki with Red Bull I don't think it would have been near the same level of issue to most people.
 
Die Limburger (newspaper from the local region where Verstappen is from) reports that Red Bull have decided to replace Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda for Japan onwards.

What makes the choice of Lawson even more notable is that Honda had been willing to pay an additional 10 million euros to Red Bull if they chose Tsunoda as a replacement for Sergio Pérez in 2025. Honda already pays 10 million euros annually for Tsunoda's Racing Bulls seat, but they were willing to double that if the Japanese driver were to land the second seat alongside Verstappen.

Horner dismissed the offer at the time, but sources have told De Limburger that such a deal is now on the table. The savvy top brass at Red Bull Racing has reached out to the Japanese multinational in recent days and literally asked how much they are willing to pay to have Tsunoda race alongside Verstappen for the rest of the year. Reports indicate that Honda is willing to pay several million for their dream transfer.

It is a decisive move... doesn't feel unfair even... But they still must be smarting from the decision in the first place.

I really want to see Yuki do well. He's paid his dues. Maybe Lawson will have been served enough humble pie that he just puts his head down and tries to stay in F1.

The car is so bad... 17 would be an improvement over Lawson though. It will be fascinating to see if Lawson is further up the grid than Yuki with the swap.
