In terms of players without contracts or anything else. Lindholm is clearly better than Suter. Suter went from being underrated to overrated on this board.

I think of Suter as a good 3rd liner center on a competitive team.
I think of Lindholm as an average 3rd liner center on a competitive team.
I do not overrate Suter; I think since Lindholm has lost a step , going back to Calgary, he's not nearly enough 'on his game' to justify his ice-time.

Too many loser points and garbage time wins. They rightfully should be around 9th or 10th

They were pretty consistently inconsistent the whole season, they didn't really have a late season winning streak that was outside their regular pace from the rest of the season. They had a crazy amount of OT losses (tied for most in the league), and you could just as easily make the argument that if a few more of those OT losses were wins they'd be sitting in a playoff spot. 3v3 is essentially a dice roll anyway.
In 2022 Lekkerimaki was ranked 8 in Bob McKenzie’s final rankings. A bunch of centres (Kasper, Nazar, Mcgroaty) and Defense (Mintykov, Korchinski) all ranked after 15 went ahead of him.
I wonder if we could see something similar this year, with Eklund for example who was ranked 8 in Bob’s mid-term rankings.

the draft is not strong enough to see something like this happen again. 2022 was pretty decent draft, but 2025 is just a pile of horse dung. not one bit excited at all.
I don’t understand why the quality of the draft would affect the preferences of the teams for size, centres, and defensemen, potentially allowing sub 6ft wingers to drop.

Canucks are going to retain 1.74m for the next 8 years?
If Misa isn't NHL ready you've thrown away the 25/26 season. Pettersson has his warts but the team needs more centers not less, especially top 6 centers.
Throw away the 25/26 season you say goodbye to Hughes, but i already know how you feel about that, you'll trade him for Gavin Mckenna.

Pretty clear, "not much to look forward to"
Hughes signed his contract to end at FA, he could have signed for another 2 years at more money but chose to hit FA.
Didn't they just throw away 8 of the last 9 years?
Where did Hughes come from? Where did Pettersson come from? Demko? Boeser? Horvat? The ether?
They came through the draft.
Has hanging on to players won anything the last decade? And there were great one's, Sedins etc.
How many drafted players have re-signed here once they had FA?
Hughes with a question mark? Or McKenna for up to 8 years?
Why would Chicago or San Jose do this? The need to start winning now and need a veteran center that has some possible upside.
ALL high skill players decline under Tocchet's coaching style, the league knows this, everyone can now this just look at stats of his players, go further and see how many demand trades from his teams.
There is a good chance he rebounds under a different coach, in a different city out from under 7 years of questionable public scrutiny.
They would need other teams to step back and those teams that have already are moving forward.
There are no decent centers available in FA and no team's that HAVE to create cap space now, so those type of trades are going to be very rare.
Canucks now need two top six centers and more than one winger. Too much.
All Allvin can have is hope to sell. The team is more cap restricted than other teams, has no top six depth, no center depth.
IF 2025/2026 was a write off is it different than 8 of 9 years with the exception there is a target(s) for star players not that just Misa and McKenna would be enough but they could get 2 firsts this year and three firsts next year while keeping their own first for the 2027 draft and Dupont.
That would be 18 months for a total rebuild of the core, one year just like 8 of 9 but with a plan instead of "we hope", "we thought", "if everything goes good",
Here is an Allvin statement that could be "we hope Misa and McKenna can be great players for many years" or "we think these player will be the new core".

What if Chyti never gets hit in the head ever again
What if Joshua can score 30 goals
what if Lekkeimaki can score 50 goals
What if Boeser re-signs for 3 mil a year
What if Demko never get hurt or misses any time anymore
what if ........they ALL have career years every year
AND
we hope other team don't get better
we hope that game management leans in our favor
we hope the PP is 35% and the PK is 95%
we hope Willander is better than all defencemen but Hughes
we hope we have no injuries
we hope we win more games than we lose.
we hope Hughes re-signs for 8 years at 6 million instead of 3 years at 20+ million. Going rate in 2027.
we hope OEL doesn't win another cup while we are paying him to play against us.
I get baffled as to why change is something some posters and fans fear? When looking up from the bottom of the well there is only up. But they have to get bad before they can get good, which is better by accident or with a plan?

I'm concerned about your grasp on reality. But I enjoy your posts.
I see him falling in more than a few draft rankings. What's being said most seems think he won't be an impact player in the NHL.

Really? haven't been following draft rankings much but its puzzling why after his amazing playoff performance his ranking would drop? Beyond size and physicality I would say hes a great all around player, hands, shot, playmaking even has a pretty decent motor.
When I was listening to a sports talk show about the draft the other day. The vibes were he's not the special talent. They talked like he's in that Cole Perfetti, Marco Rossi and Zach Benson vibe. Those players are all pretty good NHLers. They were also drafted quite high. None have really made it as a center except Rossi and rumours are Min isn't happy with him at center. It seemed as if he was considered a mid round pick but now some others that will impact the game a little differently have risen above him.
When I say dropping, I'm talking 15th to 20th. Not a huge drop. Just missing the size and toughness. Like why teams weren't willing to pay for Suter at the tdl.
I wonder which scouts are watching Canada get smoked by Sweden in tournament tune up action tonight. Milton Gastrin having himself a game.
Really 5 or 6 guys displacing from the 24 draft?
I just don't see it even it's an okay draft in the top 15.
